"Pre-release cover version"

[edit]

Does anyone know what the "Pre-release cover version" thing is all about? The article doesn't explain it. 50.191.25.59 (talk) 02:32, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't bother explaining it in this article because I believe that the article itself for pre-release cover version explains it well enough; it is when an artist covers a record and releases it it before the original artist does.--Launchballer 09:07, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But the article doesn't even say that she sings or anything? It just seems odd when info boxes or categories at the end of articles assert things that the article itself doesn't cover. 50.191.25.59 (talk) 15:43, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

Is she Swiss or Hungarian or...? I don't mean ethnicity, more like citzenship, for classification purposes (as in - which of the Category:Internet celebrities by nationality subcategories should she go to?). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:40, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts & possible COI editing

[edit]

I recently removed a whole bunch of material from this article which I did not think was encyclopedic or reliably sourced, these changes have been reverted by 123.254.172.199. I note that the IP states in this edit summary that the photo previously displayed on the article was their own work, and was uploaded by them. But the original uploader of that image was Maggie.7537, who also declared themselves as the article subject's mother. This appears to be a continuation of the earlier COI editing problem that has plagued this article for a while.

@123.254/172.199:, if you have a close connection to Venus Palermo, please read this and this information about editing with a conflict of interest and using wikipedia for promotion. I'm perfectly happy to see neutral editors restore some of the material I removed (in fact I note that softlavender has previously salvaged some useful stuff, thanks for that), but I do not think that's what's happening here. Fyddlestix (talk) 04:05, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted the IP edits. Note that you can't WP:PING an IP (you have to contact them on their talk page), and you can't link to their account or edits except via Special:Contributions/123.254.172.199. It's clear that the IP is someone sockpuppeting, possibly Janey.021, who originally added that image to the article. Are you sure that Maggie.7537 uploaded the photo? It's impossible for anyone but an admin to tell now, because the file is deleted. Softlavender (talk) 04:28, 15 December 2015 (UTC); edited 04:37, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hm thanks, didn't know that about IP pings/links. Re: the image, there have been at least two images on the article at different times, Janey.021's was called "Venus at her Pocky Heart Video," I assumed that the IP was trying to restore the more recent image that Maggie.7537 had added here, "Venus holding a panel at Otakuthon in 2014." Fyddlestix (talk) 04:47, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, you are correct; the IP re-added File:Venus holding a panel at Otakuthon, Montreal in 2014.png, which was originally added by Maggie.7537 there. This is clearly Venus's mom (she's already self-identified as such) socking. If this stuff keeps up after this, it's time to get her and all of her socks blocked from editing Wikipedia. Need to send Venus's mother to COIN, ANI, SPI, or all three

[edit]

OK, we've given Maggie.7537 and Margo.P (Venus's mother and her new sockpuppet) enough rope, and she has hung herself. She has created an article on herself, and has posted reams of unencyclopedic material on this Venus article, has edit-warred, and has used multiple accounts (those two, plus at least one IP, and possibly also at least one other account that has edited both of those articles and is either another sock or a meatpuppet). It's time to report her. The question is, which venue: COIN, or ANI (and/or SPI)? She's definitely not here to build an encyclopedia. Anyway, I pose the question to the community here which venue to choose, and if anyone files a thread, please notify us here. Thank you. Softlavender (talk) 01:51, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

what would be a reliable source that her youtube channel is down?

[edit]

Anything that mentions this is constantly reverted because of no reliable sources. Is the youtube channel itself good? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2620:101:F000:702:B15C:E3D8:F783:A6F3 (talk) 07:53, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies

[edit]

Venus has had several controversies in the past, including her fallout with her Mom etc. I can't find any solid sources for this, but when I can, I'm going to add the content. Just letting you know. FiendYT 21:24, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Noted - good luck. You're going to need it - read WP:BLP.--Launchballer 21:30, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

YouTube is not a reliable source. Supergodzilla2090 (talk) 03:43, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What controversies? How is she controversial if she is the victim of abuse? --2001:16B8:3190:D000:4D65:DB4F:9C39:852F (talk) 04:56, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page move

[edit]

I do not agree with moving this article to Venus Angelic. She is not notable for her YouTube stuff; the only reason she has an article is because she passes WP:MUSICBIO#C2 for her release of I Don't Care, and that was released under the name Venus Palermo.--Launchballer 00:49, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

I've seen pages with much more depth, sources and information get deleted. Why does this page exist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.16.229.76 (talk) 08:19, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information about pre-release cover version restored

[edit]

The information is sourced and previous removals have not provided any reliable sources contradicting this claim. I have restored this content again, personal opinion or original research about this information are not valid reasons to delete sourced content without sufficient explanation. Her marriage

[edit]

There's no reliable source that she and Manaki actually divorced. 2806:263:C480:400:2473:47CC:D25:D26A (talk) 00:40, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
