The sourcing on this page is weak. At the very least a link or date for the information from the Boston Globe article should be found. I found several Boston Globe articles on the school, but could not find the "half the residents" part.

"widespread reports of physical and sexual abuse"

[edit]

This is a heavy accusation to level without providing any references. If the reports are truly widespread, there should be no difficulty tracking one down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.60.150.225 (talk) 21:09, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This page, particularly the intro, focuses heavily on the negative aspects of the school, with very little focus on the positive. While those negatives surrounding the earlier history of the school should certainly be discussed, the school has also provided a tremendous resource to disabled people and their families. And not just to the residents, but to disabled people from surrounding schools and communities as well. That's a big part of why family-based groups like the Fernald League for the Retarded have been fighting for years to keep it open. Nuiloa (talk) 01:25, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The pregnancy rate for women at Fernald was extremely high until birth control became available. Perhaps that is one way to show the rampant sexual abuse of women. Unfortunately for the men only the diagnosis of an STD would have been available to show sexual abuse. Unfortunately there is no positive side to the Fernald story since it was a snake pit that sent many poor souls to an early grave due to disease and lack of care. If you can find an upside to the hep C inoculation experiments I would like to hear it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.67.115.241 (talk) 00:19, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been vandalized with references to the tv show "The Walking Dead." This is especially apparent in the "History" section, which names characters from the show and leads off with the phrase "Welcome to Terminus." Overthinkingit (talk) 12:29, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
