Deletion of inappropriate sections

[edit]

I have deleted sections of the article about particular pupils, as I felt that they were not appropriate for an article about the school, one could even cause offence to the pupil being talked about. I am new to Wikipedia but I think I have done this correctly. I have also deleted nicknames of the former headteacher and the current headteacher - as these were likely added by pupils as their idea of a joke.

I am currently a pupil at the school so could help to generally expand the article, but I do not want to do this without help from an experienced user, as I am new to Wikipedia.

circumvadic province?!?

[edit]

What the heck is a circumvadic province? The word "circumvadic" is not in any dictionary - and there are only three mentions of it in the entire Internet - two of which are this article - and the third of which is the school's own website!

So I deleted that wording. If someone knows what it means - please feel free to fix it!

Well spotted. The word was inserted by this edit. The editor who did it, though logged in, has no user page, no talk page, and this was their sole contribution to wikipedia. It was perhaps intended as a test of how long a bit of nonsense could remain undetected, in which case the answer is two years and eight months. I believe this was a mistake. The phrase originally used was "circinate province" and was originally used to describe the catchment area when it was first implemented. This was quoted incorrectly by a former pupil, hence the phrase also appearing on the school's website — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A04:B2C2:140F:B00:957A:1140:79AD:22E3 (talk) 00:19, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Motto

[edit]

Is there some valid reason IPs keep changing the motto from "Persevere" to "True perfection has to be imperfect"? The motto "Persevere" is shown on the school's emblem, so this appears to be vandalism. Meters (talk) 22:52, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

More than a year later and IPs are still trying to make this same unsourced change with no attempt to discuss it. I cannot find any evidence that the motto has changed. If the school's motto is no longer what is shown on the emblem then provide a reliable source WP:RS to prove it. Meters (talk) 01:29, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Music Department is not large

[edit]

Music department at this school is not large. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A04:B2C2:140F:B00:2144:90AE:19F0:A283 (talk) 01:27, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit has already been undone by another editor. Feel free to provide a reliable source for your change, but based on some of your other clear vandalism I'm not expecting much. Meters (talk) 04:03, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Big Brovaz material

[edit]

Trivia about some musical group that played at the school does not belong in the article, let alone in the lead. The only source is the school's own webpage, and this is not a useful source for claiming that this concert relaunched their careers. Similarly, the claim that the school was chosen because of the high standing of its music department would require an independent reliable source. The group broke up again shortly afterwards, so it doesn't seem like much a relaunch. And since the IP making the edit states that he or she worked for the band,,there's a COI issue. Meters (talk) 04:43, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
