Gaius Antonius Hybrida

[edit]
  • ... that in spite of being expelled from the Senate, Gaius Antonius Hybrida would go on to become Consul - the highest elected office in the Roman Republic?[b]
    • ALT1:... that being expelled from the Senate did not prevent Gaius Antonius Hybrida from later becoming a Consul?

Improved to Good Article status by Mr rnddude (talk). Self-nominated at 05:25, 16 November 2016 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: New GA from within seven days of the nomination. Although the GA review can be accepted in good faith (and this one looks like it was pretty thorough), a quick read-through indicates no issues concerning citations, neutrality, or plagiarism. The hook details are cited with offline sources accepted in good faith and the hook itself is of an appropriate length. Personally I think that ALT1 is phrased better (I like conciseness), but the original better emphasizes what is interesting about this hook, so maybe a combination of the two would be good? In any case, they both meet the DYK criteria, and nominator does not have any previous DYK contributions, so QPQ does not apply. This one should be good to go. • ALT2: ... that expulsion from the Senate did not prevent Gaius Antonius Hybrida from attaining the highest elected office in the Roman Republic?
  • ALT3: ... that Gaius Antonius Hybrida was first expelled from the Senate, then elected to the highest office in the Roman Republic?
  • Canadian Paul - Would alt 2 or 3 be more like what you're looking for? The original is 162 char long, alt 1 is 114 char long, alt 2 is 144 char long and alt 3 is a 130 characters long. If I was picking, Alt 2 has more clinical wording, alt 3 is just the shortest I could get it to be succinct yet still convey the main point. Mr rnddude (talk) 15:47, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Personally, I think that ALT2 is best... in fact better than what I had in mind originally, but both ALT2 and ALT3 are good. Canadian Paul 11:59, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
