Fringe candidates[edit]

An editor recently added Rocky De La Fuente as a Republican candidate, and I reverted. I believe that fringe candidates should not be included in this navbox, unless and until their campaign receives substantial RS attention. Same reasoning for Democratic "vanity" candidates such as Michael E. Arth: apparently there are 275 of them… — JFG ^talk 20:38, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@JFG: see relevant discussion at Talk:2020 Republican Party presidential primaries#De La Fuente now has substantial media coverage. I assume De La Fuente was added to the template because a couple of editors attempted to add it to the GOP primary article earlier. Zzyzx11 (talk) 01:38, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

De La Fuente is not a "fringe candidate", unlike the myriad of random people who've filed FEC intent to run forms. De La Fuente has transfered millions of dollars into his campaign account and is actively involved in campaigning. Even if he doesn't meet the standard of being a "major candidate" his campaign is still notable considering his lawsuit against California's presidential tax return disclosure law and the amount of money he is spending on his campaign.XavierGreen (talk) 20:12, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for additional entries[edit]

There are a nunber of articles on topics closely tied to this election and that take up a large part in current coverage of the election, yet are kinda orphaned when it comes to being included in this template. Hence, I suggest their inclusion:

I'm not sure about Stop the Steal. Our main article 2020 United States presidential election seems to be linking it as the main article for the protests and fraud allegations, however it's just an article about the FB group and its direct successors there, whereas the actual main articles are Alleged irregularities in the 2020 United States Presidential election and 2020 United States election protests. --2003:EF:1703:A520:C1EE:9164:F84C:14D6 (talk) 13:52, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Party listings[edit]

The way the additional parties that supported Biden (Independent Party Working, Families Party) and Trump (Conservative Party, Right to Life Party) makes it appear that the primaries for the Democratic and Republican parties, respectively, involved these parties, which they did not. Perhaps find a different manner of including them in the infobox, or exclude them altogether. But the current manner they are included is pretty problematic.
