Using this template: This template is intended to portray intervals from the root of the chord (not intervals between successive chord notes) such that a major chord is a major third and perfect fifth, not a major third and minor third.

Reversing interval order[edit]

Yes I agree, if you mean what I mean in my question to Help desk about how to do this at Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2007_March_1#Editing_text_box_in_article_.22Tristan_chord.22

As reference for this change of interval order, see, for example, Grove Music Online, article "'Tristan' chord", where the intervals are measured from the bass upwards, and the intervals are given in ascending order. [1] (To access this webpage you must either be a subscriber or be a cardholder of a library that has a subscription.) Any music rudiments or harmony textbook will also discuss chords the same way. Actually I think RGB2's question is different to Hyacinth's. From the sound of things you want to change the template so that the last interval appears at the top and the first interval appears at the bottom. As Teratornis points out the best way to do this is to edit this template. I have no objection to this and, if no-one else does either, I can do it for you. Andeggs 09:02, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
