Revise template logic for NCAA University and College Divisions[edit]
We need to revise the logic of this template to support the NCAA's University and College Divisions, which existed from 1956 to 1972. See 1956 NCAA College Division football season and 1957 NCAA College Division football season for examples of where this template is failing to provide the correct previous and subsequent season links. @Frietjes: is this something you can fix? Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 20:24, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jweiss11, okay, I will have to think about how to make the split next work. I could certainly make it automatic, but it may be easier to just have the ability to override the automatic link. but, I believe I have something sane for the primary next and previous links now. I will work on it some more later. Frietjes (talk) 00:00, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jweiss11, I added optional |prevtype= and |nexttype= with the default being |type= for the succession links. I will work on adding |nexttype2= for the seasons where there are two next links, but I don't have time to do that today :(. Frietjes (talk) 00:11, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Great. Thanks for your help on this! Jweiss11 (talk) 00:16, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jweiss11, okay, I think I have something closer to what you want. let me know if you want any tweaking. we may want to abbreviate the center text/link for all cases and not just the ones that split. or, we may want to remove the center text in some cases. and, we may want to tweak the link text.
