Is this necessary

I'm not sure this box tells the reader anything important. It certainly doesn't need to be at the top of the page, which is where the creator has been putting it. Move to strike? HokieRNB 19:55, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good template for noting a player who has been honored after the fashion of retired squad numbers but who did not actually have a squad number, either because he played before they came into use or because he was not a player. For players who did have actual numbers retired, the {{tl:MLBBioRet}} should be used instead. I just made this change for a number of players. --BlueMoonlet (t/c) 16:03, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
