What would you suggest I do?

[edit]

I want to make substantial changes to this. I would like the template to be the same color. Why was it yellow? It was done on the California Templates, I thought it looked nice then I realize the person in question put Yellow on the Templates because the state was called the Golden State. What I want to know is how can I improve this so we can use the span buttons which is what I have been using for the previous templates.--Jack Cox (talk) 02:54, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blue text on a blue background might look good to you, but it is impossible to read for colorblind users, elderly users, users with bad eyesight, etc. There's a consensus on this site not to use colored backgrounds for large amounts of text. (And honestly I think it looks horrible, but that's just my opinion.) White backgrounds are the best for our users. Many lists use colored markers like List of Presidents of the United States and List of Governors of Florida. They keep the color information without making it hard to read.
As for the yellow: yeah, we're "the Bay State" so I think that speaks for itself. If you want consistency, think about being consistent with the rest of the site. Almost all the navboxes are blue and white because that's Wikipedia's style. I hope I haven't offended you but remember I've done a lot of work on this so my opinion counts too. —Designate (talk) 03:46, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The title bar is fine, but the background (party) colors on the individual senators won't work. Try something like the articles I linked above. Designate (talk) 20:14, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of decorative images

[edit]

We should avoid including decorative images in this template, since it reduces the room available for the actual content, and does not assist with navigation. Navigation is the primary purpose of a navigation box. Seals and logos can be included in the main article. Frietjes (talk) 15:44, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Designate (talk) 00:49, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree as well. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 03:09, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

Does anyone object to moving this to Template:Massachusetts Senate (for consistency with Template:Massachusetts House of Representatives)? —Designate (talk) 16:51, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
