adding to wrong assessment categories

[edit]

{{edit protected}}

1. Please add full quality scale.
2. Please add assessment link.
3. I think the category under the hook is wrong, the Crusades TF is part of the Military WP, not History WP.
4. Is that why the template page has the category Unassessed history articles? --Funandtrvl (talk) 05:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is a template - it is transcluded on other pages. Those pages are all correct. fahadsadah (talk, contribs) 08:13, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I beg your pardon, but those pages are not correct. If the assessment categories were working correctly, then the TALK pages would be transcluded into those categories, NOT the main template-space page. Also, why weren't requests #1 and #2 fulfilled? --Funandtrvl (talk) 14:59, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the problem from what you said, but I noticed that this template has |BANNER_NAME=Template:WPMA where it should use |BANNER_NAME=Template:WikiProject Middle AgesMs2ger (talk) 15:39, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I'll build a sandbox to see if we can figure out the problem. --Funandtrvl (talk) 15:50, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done I was to blame for the unwanted category, I didn't update all the |BANNER_NAME= parameters when I moved the template on Thursday. Apologies for that. Happymelon 16:05, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Still has assessment problems

[edit]

{{edit protected}}

1. Could you add: (a)the auto parameter, (b)portal stuff and (c)correct grammar in main article? See: Template:WikiProject Middle Ages/sandbox for examples.
2. The assessment category under the qualitycats hook should be military history articles, not history articles. See: Portal talk:Crusades, because when you put Crusades=yes by the WPMA template, it doesn't associate it with any TF, but when you put the parameter by the WPMILHIST template, you get a different categorization scheme altogether. It needs to be fixed to match what the WPMILHIST template does, thanks. --Funandtrvl (talk) 17:50, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done the first part. Not clear enough on the second: what value, exactly, do you want put in |ASSESSMENT_CAT= in the /qualitycats hook? "military history articles" doesn't work; Category:NA-Class military history articles etc doesn't exist. Please have a test and see what you need to do. Happymelon 18:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum

[edit]
1. Please add portal image |PORTAL_IMG = Grandes chroniques Roland.jpg
2. Please take a look at [1], it lists how the different task forces work with the WPMILHIST template. These codes are too complicated for me to figure out how to add them to the WPMA template to make the assessment categories work for the Crusades TF, but I know one thing for sure, "Crusades" is not a TF of the History WP, it's a TF of WPMILHIST, so "history articles" is not the right assessment cat. --Funandtrvl (talk) 19:33, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So what is? What, exactly, are you trying to achieve? I don't understand what you're aiming for. I can explain what the template is currently doing: it categorises into subcats of Category:Middle Ages articles by quality and subcats of Category:History articles by quality for all pages, and when the Crusades TF is triggered, into subcats of Category:Crusades articles by quality, which is also picked up by MILHIST. As all Middle Ages articles also fall within the scope of WPHistory, I don't see the issue here. The history cats aren't being added only to the Crusades, they're being added to all pages, which seems appropriate to me. If that is not what is 'supposed' to be going on, you need to more clearly explain what it is you do want. Happymelon 20:19, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing to do with the taskforce issue, but should the qualitycats hook for history articles also have |FULL_QUALITY_SCALE = yes ? -- WOSlinker (talk) 20:24, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they should be synchronised.  Done Happymelon 20:29, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for fixing the FQS, that was the problem that I couldn't figure out why the Crusades TF wasn't working for the WPMA template and thanks for explaining how the Crusades articles are being picked up by WPMILHIST, I was concerned about that. :) --Funandtrvl (talk) 21:14, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yobot errors

[edit]

FYI,

some articles may be incorrectly tagged with WikiProject Middle Ages because of a bug in a bot. Seeing this edit [2] shows that {{WPMACAU}} is replaced by {{WikiProject Middle AgesCAU}}, which some editor may come along and "correct" to {{WikiProject Middle Ages}}. So if you see some Macau topics that should not be in this project, please replace your banner with {{WikiProject Macau}} banner.

Thanks.

WikiProject Middle Ages Template

[edit]

I noticed while fixing one of the WikiProject Middle Ages templates, that it has (which includes the squidly brackets):

  • WikiProject Middle Ages|class=|importance=|Crusades=

My point is when "Crusades" is "yes" it does not appear in the template. When "Crusades-task-force=yes" is added, the Crusades Task Force is added to the Template. Is this a minor error? Adamdaley (talk) 23:47, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think I created the parameter as "Crusades-task-force" (for some reason; that was kind of dumb in hindsight). it should still work with just "crusades", because the Military History project template works like that, but I'm not sure how to fix it here. Crusader task force class

[edit]

It doesn't seem like the class parameter is passing down to the Crusader task force. Look at Talk:Alice of Antioch or Talk:Azzo VI of Este or Talk:Zaraka Monastery all of which are populating Category:Unassessed Crusades articles for some reason. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 23:58, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is still a problem and explains why Category:Crusades articles by quality so bizarrely unassessed. Still not showing up and doubling up if the MILHIST project is added. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 09:05, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've fixed it by passing the correct parameter name to {{WikiProject Military history/Class}}. However there is another problem on Talk:Alice of Antioch. Crusades is a Military History taskforce (not a Middle Ages taskforce). To assess C-class with military history you need to use the B-class checklist, which this template does not use! I think the simplest would be to remove support for that taskforce from this template and possibly get a bot to go around adding the military history banner to the affected articles. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:41, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: I don't think it's so much of a problem as it just doubles up in various pages and creates inconsistencies. Some of the African nation templates have a military taskforce that overlaps with the MILHIST one, creating some duplication. The Crusades project is a joint venture between the two so the templates overlapping is not surprising. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 16:56, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
