Dead Whisper is a 2024 horror/thriller film directed and produced by Conor Soucy in his feature debut. Co-written by Conor Soucy and Colin Charles Dale, the film stars Samuel Dunning, Rob Evan, Tana Sirois, Samantha Hill, and Dhane Ross. The film follows Elliot Campbell, a lawyer who encounters a demonic entity on a hidden island following a tragic loss.[1] An independent production of Howlin' Hounds Pictures and Brother Gran Productions, Dead Whisper had its world premiere at the Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival on March 7, 2024 where it received positive initial reviews from critics, garnering praise for its atmosphere, creative visuals, and Samuel Dunning's performance.[2]
Plot[edit]
Elliot Campbell, a lawyer reeling from a personal tragedy, receives a mysterious invitation to a remote island. There, he becomes entangled in the sinister machinations of William Porter, a demonic entity with the power to distort time and reality. As Elliot delves deeper into the island's secrets, he must confront his own fears and unravel the mystery before it consumes him.[3]

Development and Casting[edit]
Dead Whisper was directed by Conor Soucy, who co-wrote the screenplay with Colin Charles Dale. The film features longtime Broadway actor Rob Evan in his first on-screen role, with Samuel Dunning starring as Elliot Campbell.[9] The supporting cast includes Tana Sirois, Samantha Hill, and Dhane Ross. The film was produced by Howlin' Hounds Pictures, a production company based in Culver City, California. [10]

The film was shot on location in Provincetown, Boston, and Easton, Massachusetts.[11] Ben Grant served as the cinematographer, capturing the film's atmospheric and imaginative visuals. [12]
Music[edit]
Composer Nikhil Koparkar was selected for the Reel Change Film Grant, which allowed for an enhanced score featuring a selection of live instruments. Koparkar's score for "Dead Whisper" integrated non-traditional instruments like the Thai Khaen and Concheridoo with traditional horror elements to create a unique auditory experience that accentuated the film's atmosphere and psychological tension.[13]
Release[edit]
Dead Whisper had its world premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival, which took place from March 7-17, 2024, in San Jose, California.[14]
