Samarinda TV (abbreviated as STV) is a local private television station based in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia; operating from 2013 until 2023 and again since 2024. It is owned by Jawa Pos through its regional subsidiary Kaltim Post, headquartered at Mahakam Square, Sungai Kunjang, Samarinda.[3] STV started its initial test broadcasts in 5 hours on 15 October 2013.[1] The broadcast time was later extended to 14 hours and its coverage area included Samarinda, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, and a few parts of Bontang.[3] It was once the only terrestrial local TV station in Samarinda,[2] although its existence was outlasted by cable-only Tepian TV.
In June 2022, STV had BPJS Ketenagakerjaan dues of 168 million rupiahs in arrears since 2019. This caused protests from the Alliance of Students Caring the Development of East Kalimantan (GMPPKT), which demanded the State Prosecutor's Office of Samarinda to collect the dues.[4] Samarinda TV became rendered defunct around August 2023[5] for unclear reasons, although its former virtual channel 800 continued to exist for several months.[original research?]
However, as of 26 August 2024, STV was revived and resumed broadcasts.[6] Currently, STV rebroadcasts some programs from its sister station Balikpapan TV from Balikpapan.[7]
