Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Danny Lilithborne! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Acetic Acid (talk) 06:46, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

You're most welcome. I'm happy to see you believe in Wikipedia. Though, the welcome wasn't really automatic. ^_^ It was more semi-automatic. It was already written, but I did have to hunt you down and post it. :P See ya around. Acetic Acid (talk) 09:16, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

SVC Chaos: Capcom vs SNK[edit]

  • The only reason I revert the page is because you keep simplifying it- what's the point of taking out the tiers and the information located at the above..? We're an encyclopedia; we give as much information as possible, the tiers are there to describe the characters [game] ability and power usage as well as they're particular niche in there. As for the Mr. Karate pic, yeah, that is incorrect, as well as the violent Ken trivia. But taking out all the other infirmation is pointless, those two mistakes are all that needed to be fixed.
    • Tier information is classified as POV, which is something Wikipedia strives to avoid. And even so, the information you've put in is mostly wrong. Geese and Zero are the top tier characters in competitive play and everyone answers to them. You also insist on dropping the arcade release information for some reason. To suggest it did not come out in the arcade is outright falsity. In any case, objectivity is what is required here. Danny Lilithborne 20:37, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • You misunderstand my intent of tier information- I'm not playing favorites here. And I don't disagree that Zero and Geese are at the top of the game, but its obvious that Demetri and violent ken come quite close, as well as Orochi Iori. As for the Arcade info, you got me- I didn't deny that at all...you forget I'm not the only one who's been editing the page. Hopefully we can come to an agreement.
        • Tier discussion is best left to websites that deal with that kind of stuff (ie. Shoryuken.com and SNK-Capcom.com); this is an encyclopedia and objectivity is best. Danny Lilithborne 21:02, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
          • True. But stating tier information from simply a gameplay standpoint is an important fact. Characters in this category (ie. Zero) are virtually machines of apoctolyptic destruction in this game, what with the collision detection, not to mention the poor game balance. An example of the tier listing I'm doing can be found on other video game pages, such as the Soul Calibur character pages for instance. Don't even get me started on Shin Akuma.... but I suppose that's irrelevant. The point is these characters have an extreme disadvantage, so much that less-skilled players need not put as much effort in to using them.
            • Like it or not, tiers will always be opinion and not fact. Drop the issue or I'll be forced to file grievance (again). Danny Lilithborne 23:06, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Los discos de la Chakira: Donde estan los ladrones[edit]

Oye won, pa ir al track "non nobis" u cant use the gringo version of the CD. u need to get chinese version. In the back of the CD, theres a code. Go to the MTV China website, register, copy the code, wait 1-2 weeks to get an email, and you will receive the secret track.

Signed, Chakiro

  • If you get it through e-mail and it doesn't come on the disk, it doesn't exactly sound like a "secret track" to me, more like a marketing bonus. Danny Lilithborne 08:57, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza[edit]

By all means, check out the IRC channel. However, there aren't always a lot of people in there. Basically, Esperanza is a group of Wikipedians dedicated to keeping Wikipedia a happy, healthy community. For more information, you can take a look at our charter and our current programs. Don't forgot to add yourself to the member list! I hope you do join. Acetic'Acid 12:07, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza![edit]

Welcome, User:Danny Lilithborne, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. A spam list is maintained by Redwolf24 to keep members up to date; you might want to consider adding your name to the list. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Essjay, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of myself, Flcelloguy, Ryan Norton, and Acetic Acid. The next set of elections will be at the end of the year, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!

Athena or Athena..?[edit]

  • You say the Athena in SVC Chaos is not Athena Asamiya, correct? If that's so, then why does her article even say that it is her in SVC Chaos? Please verify this to me with proper consensus or proof; because if you are correct, thaen I'm going to make a character page for her. After all, it makes no sense to link a character to a page about a video game, which devolves into no info about the character herself.-MegamanZero 16:40 27,November 2005 (UTC)
  • Also, you said in your edit comment "Don't bring back spam", What do you mean? I've never brought any spam...-MegamanZero 17:31 27,November 2005 (UTC)
    • As far as I know, Athena Asamiya is a reincarnation of the Athena character from the video game; the Athena in SVC Chaos is obviously meant to be the original, as she has the original outfit and different moves. And the spam I'm talking about is the edit regarding a "live action" version of SVC Chaos. That was spam and you brought it back. Danny Lilithborne 22:57, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • Okay, I didn't know it was spam - I assumed that that section was info regarding voice actors; and I really don't appreciate the fact that you think I brought it back on purpose. Funny thing is, you say, "You're not an authority on this page", when it was blatantly obvious to me that at least I attempted to follow some sort of consensus and compromise, as I only wished to keep the link on Athena up as long as proof wasn't given. Now that I know, I can create a proper link to go there; ie., a character page. Finally, I don't understand your ridiculous accusations about "you having more experience in these games than I". How would you know how much I played a game or not? How would you know if you'd played a game more than me? Those are nonsensical statements, and quite frankly, making such assumptions is utterly unacceptable. Be serious, Danny. You don't even know me. And about the POV info - no, it is not an infringement on a neutral point of view; it is a gameplay-stated fact, and this article is not the only one who does this [1]. You can blame that tier info on SNK, who failed in constructing a proper roster of characters that were properly balanced from a gameplay viewpoint. But I digress, I don't want a edit war - if you want to settle this, I propose inquiring to an administrator about being an in-betweener for our debate; completion of the article is the only thing I have in mind, thank you. And, in the future please get some etiquette, and show that you can make responsible and respectful comments regarding another person's viewpoint on a matter; as I recall, I have always attempted to be on a friendly, work-ethic basis with you; you've yet to do the same. --MegamanZero 6:44 28,November 2005 (UTC)
        • I'm upset because you blatantly ignore my points while coming across as a "nice guy". Regardless of how obvious the tiers are in SVC Chaos, it's still a matter of opinion and not fact. Highlighting certain characters as "top tier" appears to state it as a fact. Wikipedia is supposed to strive for objectivity. The Soul Calibur articles talk about the balance information in their own paragraphs, and do not appear to dictate which characters are top. If your intent is to talk about the hit detection and such, you could devote a section to the balance problems; I wouldn't have a problem with that. But not in the way you insist on having it appear. As for the live action thing, come on... I'm not buying that you didn't know it was spam. Mike Tyson?! Danny Lilithborne 04:45, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
          • Regardless of whether you believe me or not, I didn't know. I perhaps did not look at that section close enough; and I passed over it. As for the tier info, yeah, I'll make a separate section for that, and will make it closer to SC articles in formatting. Finally, as for "I'm upset because you blatantly ignore my points while coming across as a "nice guy"" thing, that's not true. I am truthfully trying to be easy to work with, and my actions and demeanor are of the utmost sincerity, whether you believe me or not. Futhurmore, I do listen to your points - I'm just trying to understand them so I can verify proper consensus and proof; I only want to compromise, as edit-warring and forming bad relationships with editors gets me nowhere, as well as makes the articles suffer. --MegamanZero 6:50 28,November 2005 (UTC)

The King Of Fighters[edit]

  • It is biased and it isn't at the same time. Depends on the point of view and the objective that we want to achieve. I can prove you, with exact concepts and ideas why The King Of Fighters is the best fighting game of all time. But that's my opinion. However, are you aware that The King Of Fighters was stated as the best fighting game of all time by Famitsu, the most popular gaming magazine of Japan? - User:TheOrgy
    • Sounds like a matter of opinion to me. Besides, silly boys, we all know Marvel vs. Capcom is the best fighting game of all time! (laughs maniacally) -MegamanZero 20:16 3,December 2005 (UTC)
      • Except that MvC is a game for kids. - User:TheOrgy
        • Yet another matter of opinion... and a wrong one, at that.-MegamanZero 0:04 3,December 2005 (UTC)
          • Uh, dude..... you said MvC was the best fighting game, I answer in the same vein and you take my comment out of the context that your own comment had. Kids... - User:TheOrgy
            • First off, common sense would tell you I said that comment as a light-spirited joke. Second, MvC is only a children's game based more on an incorrect thesis and conjecture; as well as being out of a completely different vein which was previously in our discussion; (which is sadly incorrect), and not 90% of the rest of the fighting genre populous. Now stop being a silly sausage. - MegamanZero 1:45 4,December 2005 (UTC)
  • Please don't use my talk page to have your silly little arguments. Danny Lilithborne 06:01, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image placement vote[edit]

Hello, it's MegamanZero, and I've gotten into a conflict with User:The Orgy over his needless image placement and excessive quotes on the Iori Yagami page. So, I've decided to hold a vote (like on the Ryu (Street Fighter) character page) concerning which version should be used. The vote can be found here. Please vote your opinion on the matter and thanks for your time! -MegamanZero 18:04, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
