Where The Mind Is Without Fear[edit]

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

Holocaust[edit]

From late 1999 until mid-2016 I primarily worked inhouse as a translator and editor for a Holocaust museum archive, studying and writing about the topic pretty much daily. Prior to Sept. 2008, when by chance I discovered a seven-generation family tree of my maternal grandmother's family, I had no knowledge of any relatives of my own who had been in ghettos or concentration camps and killed in extermination camps.

Israel:[edit]

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1953, raised mainly in Southern California, I spent my first year in Israel in 1976/77 following my graduation from UCLA and returned as an immigrant in 1984, joining a kibbutz which underwent privatization in mid-1998. I continue to live there with my family.

Jewish history (other):[edit]

Fourth-generation American Jew by birth, Reform by upbringing, naturalized Israeli and kibbutznik by choice. This topic is central to my life.

Music:[edit]

Personal experience over the years with instrumental and vocal music, both classical and folk. Mother of a budding chamber musician.

Arts and Letters:[edit]

B.A. in English Literature (UCLA 1976, summa cum laude). Aficionado of many arts, avid reader, aspiring polyglot. My homage to any author or musician I've recently discovered is to improve (or create) his/her page.

Textile-related:[edit]

Skilled and passionate patchwork quiltmaker, occasional seamstress, knitter, and embroiderer.

Other:[edit]

Wherever I've got something meaningful to add, I try to do so. I consider myself a dedicated minion in the Information Access Revolution, and Wikipedia is my primary base of operations.
