Telugu cinema

[edit]

Thank you for helping me in adding photographs to Telugu cinema pages. I am not familiar with the Uploading of the photographs. If you can help me in this, I will be very grateful.Dr. Rajasekhar A. 10:11, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Telugu cinema template is brief. I would add the individual yearly list of Telugu films. Can you add the individual years from 1950 onwards to this template keeping the decades and other parameters.Dr. Rajasekhar A. 11:26, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
  • I am now familiar with the system. Thank you for taking time to teach me the system of incorporating the images into Telugu film pages. Can you check this poster of Palletoori Pilla and Bhagya Rekha from Telugu wikipedia. I do not know whether the system is different.

Dear Sir, I have been entering data about some old classic Telugu films. With your help, I have been adding Non-free images to some of these pages. Can we assess these Telugu film pages and find out whether they have crossed the Stub class. What is the procedure to assess these pages automatically in Wikipedia.Dr. Rajasekhar A. 08:05, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for clarifying my doubts, some of them are very basic in nature. Can we use the Non-free images for screenshots taken from the different films, some of them are also available in google search. Can you teach me the technique of uploading these screeshots. Sorry for troubling you again. This is only to avoid copyright violations.Dr. Rajasekhar A. 06:46, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Bengali cinema

[edit]

Hmm.. the norm is to have navboxes at the bottom - removing the West Bengali one seems a little odd. Rich Farmbrough, 14:57, 1 June 2010 (UTC).

Incidentally did you see this? Rich Farmbrough, 15:04, 1 June 2010 (UTC).

It's good to be back.

Though I've managed to develop a nasty little cold. No matter; I'll begin uploading pictures sometime soon, most likely tomorrow.

As for your question? Kanye West, I'd say; he's had a couple of moments, now, where his big ol' mouth has run away from him. Remember his behavior at the MTV awards show? --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:58, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Yep. My folks and I went to the middle of the Chesapeake for a couple of days. It was very, very pleasant. And on the way home I did some National Register-hopping, so I have a couple of articles to begin, and at least one to expand, all with illustration. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:05, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I've heard a lot of nasty things about Eddie Murphy, including from someone who extraed on one of his films once. Apparently he has been known to refuse to even acknowledge underlings, going so far as to bump into one and turn away without a word. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:08, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't know Paxman. Letterman has always struck me as being extremely unpleasant, though. And there's also Joy Behar - have you head the pleasure? (For your sake, I hope not...I find her a remarkably disgusting creature.) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:15, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Exactly - he strikes me as condescending to many of his guests. And he's remarkably mean-spirited compared to other hosts. Behar is just as bad, and she's confrontational; if you don't agree with her, she reserves the right to tear you to pieces, because she can. As for E!, the only thing I ever bother watching there is Joel McHale. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:27, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I haven't, no. But I've seen him do other interviews, and he frequently comes off looking the worse for wear. Especially if debating someone he doesn't like. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:59, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Rangit Dam

[edit]

The article is still not ready since I have not been able to get info on web site references on operating head and tailwater level (probably your search may come out with some info on this) at the Powerhouse. May be we can post it tomarrow. The other two articles will be linked to a six or seven articles hook under South Sikkim and East Sikkim. It will be a week before we can post them. I want to do an article exclusively on some subject in Pakistan. I was thinking of Rumbur valley, which is famous for the Kalash people or Kafiristan and Kalash language as it has ancient Indo Aryan historical link. I am sure you would be interested. You could probabaly give a lead section which could be developed further since some existing articles give lot of information and references. I am reading a book on Himalaya by Micheal Palin (of BBC fame).--Nvvchar 10:40, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I have moved Temi Tea Garden to main space as our joint article. You may like to copy edit and post it on DYK. The Rangit Dam articile still needs inputs.--Nvvchar 14:10, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Articles Temi Tea Garden and Rangit Dam are now ready. You may like to post them on DYK after your editing inputs. Thanks.--Nvvchar 15:09, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Added reference in Rangit Dam. I had converted in terms of USD value when project was completed in 1999/2000 (about Rs 40). I have now changed it to USD=Rs45 at current rate and mentioned it in the text. I tried to expand Birla Mandir, Hyderabad but could not find more reliable text than what is already given in the article. Dharan, Nepal is a modern town but nothing special about it. I have gone there. I am anyway trying to expand it. I tried to expand Acantilados de Los Gigantes in Tenerife coast but most references of use need translation from Spanish, which I can not read or understand or translate. However, Thimpu is worth expanding. I will do it on the main space itself as we did for Kathmandu by end of next week.Thanks.--Nvvchar 02:33, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Bintan Island is an interesting article. I have done some prelimenary search. It is possible to expand it substantially. It will be done after Thimpu. In the meanwhile, you may like to transfer some images of the map of the island and other good imgs from wikitravel articles on Bintan, Tanjung Pinang and Riau Islands. You need to give me a tutorial on how to transfer it from wikitravel. Just now, I failed to effect the transfer.--Nvvchar 13:17, 6 June 2010 (UTC)> Could not do it. Repeated request for license and author inspite of giving details as conyained in wikicommons--Nvvchar 14:38, 6 June 2010 (UTC). Thank you very much. Do you recommend any specific book reference for the island ?--Nvvchar 15:58, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
There is an observation below the DYK hook. The clarification is : "Rs. 1 Crore is an Indian usage equivalent to 10 million rupees. At a conversion rate of Rs 45 per US $ it works out to US $ 109.39 million, which is US $ 1.093 billion. The hook does not give the exact figure but mentions it "as more than $ 1 billion". I hope I am right in my calculations. Pl check and clarify the observation on the DYK.--Nvvchar 15:59, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Infobox

[edit]

Those images look great, thanks for putting them together. For the infobox, if you want to add the parameters to infobox film, you'll probably need to leave comments there first to ensure there is consensus. You should probably also contact the active members of the Indian task force to determine if adding the additional parameters is better or creating an Indian film infobox instead. I would really like to see a lot of the crew sections taken out of the Indian film articles, so it's good to see you are taking the steps to do so. I also need to finish up another Eastwood book and I'll add just a few citations from it hopefully this weekend. I was glad to see his birthday, since we both share the same birthday. But eighty years and still going strong, I hope I'm doing that well at his age. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 17:47, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:SámalJoensenMikines.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:SámalJoensenMikines.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:47, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

[edit]

You have been granted the 'reviewer' userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. –xenotalk 13:34, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Infobox replacements

[edit]

Hi. Can you explain the reasoning behind the blanket removal of the existing Template:Infobox Place Ireland templates (standard for towns/villages) with the generic box? The Ireland place template is standard on many/all Irish cities/towns/villages/etc, and I can't see what value the generic box affords that the Ireland Place template does not. Colombia

[edit]

this edit was accomplished by (1) moving the reference from the population field to a population_footnotes = field, and (2) replacing {{Infobox Department of Colombia with {{subst:Infobox Department of Colombia/sandbox. If the TFD goes in the direction I think it's going, we can have these replaced in under an hour. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 00:54, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Same with this one, with a bit of extra processing to unwrap the logo and map before substituting the sandbox. Otherwise, it goes very fast. I believe we now have enough up at TFD. Converting them (assuming they all close as delete) could take some time. Some should go faster than others. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 22:43, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

The articles need more text and imgs. Let us wait for two more days to find more material. I have added quite a few images and also text in both articles. I will let you know when I have finsihed with my inputs. One interesting ghost story (female Dracula version) related to Tobelo is in this book reference.[1] Have a look at the text on pages 278-280 and let me know if it would be interesting to include it in Tobelo article. However, I have added some text relating to riots statistics in Tolebo.--Nvvchar 09:47, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, why not. My knowledge of Vietnam is very limited since I have not visited that country so far. I will do Yên Bái article but you will have to excuse me this time for other articles on Vietnam. Also, for four weeks from 1st July, I will be away and may be able to attend to wiki sporadically. I will add some more text on Tolebo and North Halmahera in the next 24 hours. Thanks.--Nvvchar 15:26, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

I have completed my inputs. --Nvvchar 08:34, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

See the User:Nvvchar/sandbox for Yên Bái which I have almost completed. Rice bowl will take some time. May be tomarrow evening. Can you a give a solution to the DYK review issue on Pabuji Ki Phad, pl? --Nvvchar 22:38, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Issue resolved. A user by name User:dragfire stationed in Ottawa who frequents VietnAm is contributing on my sandbox userpage on Vietnam articles. I have asked him to collborate with us and also post some pictures. I hope it is OK with you. incidentally I seem to be having frequent trouble with signature not getting correctly recorded in blue to enable others to access may page. May I request you for help? --Nvvchar 05:44, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. With only a few pictures, the article looks drab. You have ingenious ways of getting pictures. As you may have seen my note on Dragfire's talk page, I have requeted him also to upload some imgaes. He goes to Vietnam quite frequently. --Nvvchar 10:04, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Tempting. Not picking up the gauntlet as yet. We will surely do it after I return from my holiday trip to USA and Anchorage. We may need some books though. Have you visited Vietnam any time? Pl give me url of Village Pump. I could not locate it to seek help.--Nvvchar 10:29, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
If you could add some text on flora and fauna, religion, arts and crafts it will be further good. I have been trying since morning but not been successful.--Nvvchar 11:05, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Enchey Monastery expansion is still only about 3x. I have not been able to find more text.--Nvvchar 12:29, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Rice production in Vietnam is almost complete now. Do we have time till tomarrow to add more, unless you can add from your books? The emphasis is on Mekong Delta and hence the title may need to reflect this aspect. Yellowmonkey has started editing the Yen Bai article now. He has strong reservations on the History section, which I also feel needs to have a nuetral view as presently it is based on the text from web sites of present day regime in Vietnam.--Nvvchar 09:38, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
There is an article on Paddy field that gives some information avout Vietnam also, but all unsourced.--Nvvchar 10:09, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

World Cup

[edit]

That's the impression I've been getting from what I hear around the office. Today everyone was glued to the US - Slovenia match; personally I'll be impressed if we make it out of the first round. 'Course, that's what we get for watching "soccer" and not football in this country... :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:07, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm surprised at how poorly the French did, myself - honestly, I expected better of them. Head-butting notwithstanding. Also how poorly the Germans did earlier today, for that matter...I really expected better of them. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:19, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Seems to be. It's not really my sport, though - I'm more interested in (aggravated by?) the fact that the Lakers won the NBA Finals. Again. Yawn...when something new, exciting and unexpected happens, let me know. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:39, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Cricket and American football, actually - I never could understand either.
I've been meaning to finish filling the redlinks in Servais Prize, if you're interested. And there are a couple of other literary prizes in that could be translated, I think. Some fodder for expansion there. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:02, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, colleges love athletics, because a good team makes for good games, and good games make for a lot of advertising revenue. And happy alumni, who then give money to the college to propagate the good games...etc. And athletes get a chance to hone their athletic skills under a coach, and on a team; basically they get extra training, which is supposed to make them more competitive in the big leagues. So they can command larger contracts.
At least, that's how it seems to me. After all, I went to a school that's not exactly known for athletic prowes. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:05, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

I know. And Papua New Guinea is even worse. One of the most ecologically, ethnically diverse regions of the world and our coverage of it is pitiful. One of my future projects is getting some articles on LLGs started, if I can find some basic information online. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:13, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
I take your point. Even so, coverage of PNG is pitiful...I still think we could be doing a lot better by it. Even if there is a lot of information lacking online. Anyhow - first batch of infoboxes is done. I'll do some more after dinner. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:27, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Any time. Happy to be of help. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:51, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
OK - give me a bit and I'll get to the rest. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:32, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Done. I think that should be all. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:39, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
'Round about 2500, I should think. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 23:15, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

I agree; it's almost certainly a hoax. I've PRODded it. As to Dimbaza, the whole article needs referencing, although the statement you tagged is probably broadly true, given the history of the Ciskei. The last sentence, though, seems a bit doubtful. Anyway, I can't find references right now for it, but I've tagged the article with {{Unreferenced}}. - htonl (talk) 22:03, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes indeed, the Dimbaza article is perhaps not quite as NPOV as it could be. I've partly rewritten it to try to address some of those issues, but it still needs referencing. - htonl (talk) 22:50, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

So, at your suggestion, I've been doing some translation, but I really don't see anyone else doing much translation the last few days. - Jmabel | Talk 04:33, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Whoa! They are long articles! I think my longest are Harz, Celle and Lüneburg - about half the size. You're right google translate isn't great. I use it sometimes for speed, but you have to check the German at the same time, because it sometimes gets it badly wrong even changing place names to something different. Also it doesn't have a clue with some of the more specialist terms. My focus is Lower Saxony because I live here and it's a good way of getting to know the area. Also there are lots of English speakers in the state. --Bermicourt (talk) 19:51, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Saw your DYK nom, you may want to take a look at pizzle too, makes reference to the Chinese and Olympics...Cheers,--kelapstick (talk) 11:16, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

I thought you might enjoy that, believe it or not (plus I never give up an opportunity to use "Deer penis" as a subject heading, in fact I once got Long Wong's on the main page), I was brought to that article by an "editing dispute". Such drama on such an obscure subject....hard to believe. --kelapstick (talk) 12:58, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Mallika Sherawat hands down!!! ShahidTalk2me 22:07, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh she is really a mysterious lady. Did you know that she is already divorced? When she was young she was forced into an arranged marriage with some pilot. She divorced him and started her dream to pursue a film career. She is a nasty lady, brutally honest and often seeks controversy by delivering different manipulative and provocative statements and bad mouthing different people, a lot like Kareena Kapoor but she is worse as Kareena often does it a deviously delicate way. Mallika always uses her sexuality in her interviews. She can speak of sex and anything and even in her films she doesn't mind having kissing and sex scenes. Where acting goes, she has a damn long way to go though. ShahidTalk2me 21:00, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Well you never know, maybe it's just a game for fame. ShahidTalk2me 09:22, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

At least you all lasted a day longer than we did. Ah, well...now everyone can forget about soccer for the next four years. :-) (Seriously - isn't that what we always do?) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:31, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Oh, yes. I have some familiarity with overrated home teams...at least the baseball team is still new, so it has some excuse for its idiocy. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:38, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
At least the American sports press was pragmatic about our chances. In hindsight, I'm a bit surprised by that, to be honest; they have a tendency to go a little overboard sometimes. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:45, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Vietanm articles

[edit]

Yes, article at sandbox 9 is almost ready. I will incorporate suitable imgs. However, there is one major issue in the translated/to be translated versions of all the 10 articles. The translated texts are hardly cited with any references. Wherever possible, I have inserted the references but it should not create problems. -- N.V.V. Char Talk . 11:29, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Nui Coc Lake a good take off from User:Nvvchar/Vietnam Province 9. Should be able to finish it by tomarrow evening before I leave on my holiday. -- N.V.V. Char Talk . 16:21, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I have fixed an Infobox to the lake. Could not fix a map of Vietnam. You have the best know how to do it. I will add more tomarrow.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 17:05, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I have completed my inputs. You may like to edit and post it on DYK. Thanks.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 05:27, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Alcácer Ceguer listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Alcácer Ceguer. Since you had some involvement with the Alcácer Ceguer redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Bridgeplayer (talk) 15:38, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm back!

[edit]

Hi blofs, Thank you very much for the message. I didn't mean to vanish without explaining. Suddenly my machine broke down severely and had to replace some hardware to fix it back. Meanwhile I didn't rush my return as I'm now graduated and thinking of starting a career. Therefore most unfortunately I think I'm gonna have very limited time to edit here, which I miss greatly. I think I can afford another week or so to write one last article and bid farewell my wikifriends properly. Yes, it is unfortunate that Chamal is retired, but I won't lose my appetite of wikipedia. Thanks buddy for kindness. Redards--Chanaka L (talk) 03:53, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Deer penis

[edit]

RlevseTalk 18:03, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

And they say "hung like horse". Hung like a deer more like.... Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:09, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Deer penis!? That's just disturbing... especially this: "Deer penis wine can be sold at $12 a glass and often as high as $450 for a two litre bottle." The Thing // Talk // Contribs 18:11, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Best DYK ever. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 18:17, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Glad you like it. In fact I was thinking of starting a series on animal peni. There is quite a lot that can be said about tiger penis, horse penis etc. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:20, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, that'd be one hell of a Featured / Good Topic... much more fun to read about than dusty Anglesey churches! (Thanks for the message, btw - v. useful map, if I may say so.) BencherliteTalk 18:35, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
In Anglesey when not in London, but not Welsh (though my wife tells me I married well!) Funnily enough, I was in the VoG on Monday as I took the plane from Anglesey to Cardiff for the first time. As the b*stards managed to leave my luggage in Anglesey, I don't think it's an experience I'll repeat in a hurry! BencherliteTalk 18:50, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry, I'm well aware of geograph! BencherliteTalk 18:59, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Since the subject has generated so much appreciation and interest you may like to write on the Bhutan penis paintings on walls and buildings, perpetuated by one of their mad saints. Have a look at this here User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 2 in this part of the continent. I am sure you would like to add a lot of text. I will continue to add further on this.-- N.V.V.
