[edit]On August 18, the NHC began observation of a system well to the south of the coast of Mexico with potential for some slow development.[1] Four days later, on August 22, a broad area of low pressure producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms primarily west of its center formed far south of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.[2]
