From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For a thorough, detailed closure of a tricky deletion discussion, and managing to pull the consensus-needle from the haystack, I award Jc37 the original barnstar. Top work! AGK (contact) 20:06, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

How do you not pull your hair out?

[edit]
See more at: his talk page

Trying to help clean up over at UCFD, and I have to say, the sheer number of users who appear to be using wikipedia for nothing other than userboxes and user categories (aka WikiMySpace) is staggering. I'm beginning to think the argument "this user category fosters collaboration" is utter bullshit. When some of the members have no edits outside of their own user page, there is no collaborating going on.

And trying to figure out how the stupid category gets populated, when it seems that every user has their own version of the userbox in their userspace, and they're all wrapped in "includeonly" so I have to edit every damn user page to try and find which template feeds the category. It's enough to make me say screw this crap, I'll stick to CFD, where things are relatively normal.

How do you do it? --Kbdank71 14:48, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

The Working Man's Barnstar
for not going completely nuts at UCFD. Kbdank71 14:48, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
How do you not strain your muscles? It looks like you performed the splits forwards and then upside down over at WP:UBX and its subpages. Actually, I don't even want to know. Here's an aerobatic barnstar. -Pomte 15:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
The Categorisation Barnstar
For all the hard work JC37 does regarding categories, especially in light of all the grief I give him over it, I award thee this piece of tin I just knocked up. Don't bite on it too hard. Hiding T 16:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

The Barnstar of Diligence
For clarifying, organizing, and developing guidance on user categories, through lots of little tweaks, some big changes, and countless comments at WP:UCFD, and for helping to bring practical significance to a formerly lonely userspace page. Thanks, Black Falcon (Talk) 19:57, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

The Admin's Barnstar
Jc37, I award to you the Admin's barnstar (together with Aervanath and Graeme Bartlett) for finding consensus in the unreasonably big and nasty discussion of the ROC -> Taiwan move. Many thanks! Mlm42 (talk) 16:07, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
Seconding this. That move request was one giant indecypherable mess for various reasons, but the three of you managed to sift through it all to come to a conclusion. Great job. NULL talk

Thank you for closes

[edit]

Thank you for running through the Requests for Closure page. I try to close the oldest ones that my time allows but the ones that are old are generally that way because they are long, controversial, or both so I have to mentally set aside time for inevitable questions. I admire the efficiency that you were able to show today in attacking these and appreciate the activity. Thanks again. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:30, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

The Admin's Barnstar
I noticed that you've worked hard lately to provide the community the opportunity and sound choices to resolve some long-standing issues. While there may be some resistance to these offers, I think it's important that people work to find solutions when difficulties are presented. I commend you for your efforts, and I hope that any opposition to your work will not dissuade from continuing some excellent efforts. I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work over many years that you've contributed to the project. TY Jc. — Ched (talk) 16:59, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
Wow. Thank you. It is very much appreciated. - jc37 17:23, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
+1 I appreciate your work as well. Thank you for your proposal, and for allowing others the opportunity to register our disagreement with the current state of affairs. Ruth Bader Ginsberg rightly said that "dissents speak to a future age", and I like to keep that in mind whenever a proposal goes the other way. Wug·a·po·des 22:17, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

The WikiProject Barnstar
Thank you so very much for reorganizing all the Barnstars on WikiProject Wikipedia Awards. I always wanted to do that but didn't have any idea as to how. Judekkan (talk) 20:15, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
Judekkan, Thank you very much. I do appreciate it.
As I mentioned at SilkTork's talk page, I've been meaning to do that for years but just kept putting it off. Hopefully this will make the page more accessible, and help people more easily find what they are looking for. I know that for me it had become more and more of a task to navigate that page. It was slow going, but I think it it was worth it.
And thanks again. I really do appreciate it. I hope you're having a great day too : ) - jc37 20:43, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
Jc37 Yeah, I've tried several times to get consensus from WT:WPWPAwards to have the topical barnstars separated but had little response. But it was a waste of time, since I just add barnstars without consensus to WP:BARN anyways. I'm glad now that was done. I think there was several mentions about the lengthy scroll-time searching for a barnstar being an issue. Again though, thank you for fixing the biggest obstacle to WP:WPAwards. You have a nice day and have a Merry Christmas. Judekkan (talk) 20:57, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
Thank you. And to you as well : ) - jc37 21:03, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
