I am currently: OUT

I've been a Wikipedia user since April 27, 2006. For awhile, I was simply a reader and I corrected errors that I either knew to be wrong or was blatantly incorrect (mold causes an increase in gambling, anyone?). It wasn't until mid-October 2008 that I decided to take an active role in patrolling the recent changes page for vandalism.

About Me

[edit]

I've taken a strong interest in computers at an early age, around 10 years old. Since then, I've learned PHP and mySQL and many other computer related operations.

Career

[edit]

I have a career in the IT field. I'm a web engineer for an undisclosed educational institution, where I implemented a content management tool for other content editors to maintain information for the community. I am currently seeking an opportunity for advancement.

My Wikipedia Role

[edit]

Until recently, all I've been was an avid reader who made periodic edits. Now I wish to take a more pro-active role towards improving Wikipedia. My aim to do that is to fix any vandalism I see that may have passed by other editors and bots, as well as to actively monitor the Recent Changes page. I wish to become an administrator on Wikipedia after I become more familiar with Wikipedia policies and I establish a higher presence in the community.

My Net Presence

[edit]

I can be found in all corners of the internet. I occasionally lurk around the FileFront forums, a gaming forum I used to moderate.

Contacting Me

[edit]

I am a very busy person and I have a lot of things going on in my life, so it may be very difficult to get in touch with me. If you wish, you may email through Wikipedia or use my talk page. I will not give out my AIM screen name to anyone unless it is needed.

Questions About My Edits

[edit]

If you have a question concerning any edit that I make, please leave a message on my talk page. Every single edit that I make is guaranteed to be in good faith (or your money back!). Please realize that everyone makes mistakes. With this in mind, please make sure to have the appropriate tone when addressing me or any editor.

Questions About My Reverts (Vandals)

[edit]

Everyone can make mistakes. Sometimes I might press the button or be too quick to press it. I use Huggle and Twilight for my Vandalism enforcement. In the event that I mistake your edit for vandalism or something to that effect, I will usually catch it quickly. If not, please fix it and leave me a little nice note on my talk page. I have no problem admitting accidents and will fix them. Stuff happens.

Barnstars Received

[edit]
The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Having checked your edits, I've noticed that you fight vandalism more than about 98% of the users I've seen. I'm very, very impressed, and I hope you keep up the good work. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 19:36, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
The Lonely Geek Barnstar
This barnstar is in honor of your depressing, unloved presence on IRC on Valentine's Day, 2009. Roses and kisses work for some, but you, noble Wikipedian, have important things to discuss on the internet with people you barely know who you'll probably never meet. Here's to you! Wikipedia Awards Received

[edit]
CVU Anti-Vandalism Award
This award is presented to Knippschild in recognition of his quick reversions of vandalism, and managing to beat me to it. Chamal talk work 10:53, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
