Van Halen

[edit]

You said you're writing a paper on them based on the Wikipedia page. Just so you know, I've been watching this page like a hawk for months. It's one of the encyclopedia's most accurate pages. Lacks sources I know, but you can trust it. (The Elfoid 10:55, 15 November 2007 (UTC))

I know it's one of the most accurate pages because most of my information matched up to my teacher's information on them. -Razorflame (talk) 17:17, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

vandal

[edit]

Why did you welcome a vandel user:Stowner12 and even thank him for his contributions (two instances of vandalism)? Bubba73 (talk), 17:40, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm just welcoming users....there are so many users that I just welcome them without looking at their contributions...sorry if I welcome a vandal, but with so many users to welcome, that is just not possible. -Razorflame (talk) 17:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes it is possible. Just check their contributions before welcoming them. Don't thank vandals for their contributions. Bubba73 (talk), 17:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I just welcome users, if you think that I am welcoming the wrong users, then just delete the welcome message I left them. Otherwise, let me welcome users. -Razorflame (talk) 17:44, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

It is easy to check the user's contributions first. Your time would be better spent on checking for vandalism. Bubba73 (talk), 18:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
You also just welcomed a user with the username of "The Most Successful Paedophile"! --Orange Mike | Talk 18:50, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I'll be careful of who I welcome now, but still, you guys DON'T WELCOME people like we at Uncyclopedia do. So therefore, I have taken it upon myself to welcome users because nobody does it here. -Razorflame (talk) 19:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I certainly wasn't chiding you for welcoming folks!!!! Just take a look at the names, maybe an edit or two, before giving 'em the old bear hug and taking 'em to meet Granny. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:17, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

For right now, I've only been welcoming users who've at least made an edit with a good note next to it....except when there is no one on the page other than new users, then I just welcome new users...-Razorflame (talk) 20:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Which reminds me, I hope you don't mind me butting in, but the user you just welcomed an hour ago Phermannronald (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is one of PWeeHurman (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)'s sockpuppets. If you have any information on these vandals, I strongly advise that you go here. -Goodshoped 23:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Non-vandals need to be welcomed. Vandals need to be warned. I don't know anything about Uncyclopedia, but the vandalism problem probably isn't as bad there. It is rampant on WP, and even most administrators are pro-vandalism. Bubba73 (talk), 02:05, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps there should be an automatic welcome, but there isn't. Perhaps it is because of the vandalism problem. Bubba73 (talk), 02:08, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
I noticed that you seem to be welcoming only registered users, not IP address anon users. It used to be that almost all vandals simply used IP address accounts, but roughly a year ago the vandals caught on that we were catching most of the vandalism and many of them started registering so their vandalism could escape detection longer. Bubba73 (talk), 02:15, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

dear Razorflame, I got your message. Thanks for the welcome. I work much in the Venetian and Italian wiki, I surf the english version from time to time to link pages, and I have done some correction here and there when I see some 'imprecision', especially in themes connected to Africa. ciao Beppe

Dear Razorflame,

Thank you for your welcome message, considering most of the mail I get seems to be bile-ridden trash from various idiot vandals. Anyway, thanks again!

I am really glad to be Википедийцем (English: a Wikipedian). I contributed just to three pages... Added InterWiki somewhere... Translated something from English into Russian et vice versa... I love it!!

The only problem I have is what I am not a native English speaker, and I am not sure if my English language contributions are correct from the points of view of the grammar and especially the style. Naturally, I have a question: do Wikipedians cooperate randomly?

An extra THANKS for the extra WELCOME !!!

What edits? If you mean my page moves, I've been reverting a vandal.--Werdan7T @ 05:28, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I accused you of being someone bad...it was bad judgement on my part, I just saw a lot of your pages getting deleted, so I thought you were doing a bad job. My apologies! -Razorflame (talk) 05:30, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Reverting edits and stuff

[edit]

I feel like I can't do anything to help around here because every single time I think I am reverting a vandalized edit, while the page is loading with my reversion, some other user comes in and reverts it using some god dang script. I just want to be of some help here, but it feels like I'm not helping at all...-Razorflame (talk) 05:39, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Please leave replies to this message on my talk page. -Razorflame (talk) 05:39, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, don't give up the ship. If others are reverting the same vandalism as you, then that means you're on the right track, and doing the right thing. I have the same thing happen to me from time to time. Likewise, as an admin, I've had pages speedied out from under me - people speedy a page while I'm in the process of speedying it. I find it somewhat amusing, but it's confirmation that I made the right decision, even if it's not my name tagged on the actual act. SchuminWeb (Talk) 05:43, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

question on username and languages

[edit]

Hi Razorflame,

Thanks for your welcome note. I had a question about usernames, and maybe you know or can point me in the right direction: I created a username on the English language version of Wikipedia. I then wanted to also update a page on the Dutch version of Wikipedia, but it doesn't seem to recognise my username there. Are these totally seperate systems that require seperate usernames? And if so, is it OK to use the same username for both? It is a bit clumsy as I will need to monitor both usernames / talkpages / etc. but if that is the only way...

Thanks for your help. AxioWiki (talk) 08:45, 23 November 2007 (UTC) Yes, you can use the same username for both wikis. You need to create another account for the Dutch Wiki page....-Razorflame (talk) 08:46, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks :)

Hi Razorflame,

Just wanted to stop by and give you (a bit of a belated) heads-up to let you know that I removed your CSD tag from the Gli Invasori article. You marked it as a candidate under G1, which is applied to articles consisting of gibberish or nonsense without any real content. While you may have meant to tag it as A1 (articles not establishing context), I actually removed it from the article both because the text was legible and because I felt it established enough context under WP:MOVIE to warrant inclusion for the time being.

At any rate, just wanted to give you a heads-up. Thanks, and keep up the hard work! --jonny-mt(t)(c)Tell me what you think! 14:33, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome

Hi Razorflame, it's me again :)

[edit]

I have a question; but first, a pretty little preambula.

I improved the article Melitopol. But I was not sure if everything I did was perfect. I started seeking the answer at W:Questions, it brought me to W:Embassy. It supposed me to look for a translator; however, I am one (en-3). I then tried to look over the proofreaders list, and there were just some people, besides, they were supposed to speak Russian, while it was not necesary. It would be enough if they were merely less busy native English speakers.

Perhaps, I sought a proofreader in the wrong place? It is the question itself. Thanks.

A. Demidov (talk) 18:33, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Razorflame. It's me, user 5VH9, You know, you gave me that nice welcome message, and thanks again for it. I am currently building up the page for the Universal Florida Studio Tour, the tour that used to be at Universal Studios Florida. I'm currently in desperate need of a video of the tour that i can post on the page, Would you happen to have any? Please respond with a message back to my user page, and if you have any videos of the tour, please feel free to post them on the studio tour page first. Thanks' a bunch!--5VH9 (talk) 02:14, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit]

I am very thankful for your proofreading.

A. Demidov (talk) 20:06, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

I didn't proofread the whole article because there were many parts that just didn't go right together. I would recommend asking someone who isn't in school anymore. -Razorflame (talk) 23:01, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank You Very Much

Razorflame - hi

[edit]

I'm not sure what I did to tick someone off, but after making contributions in the past, all of a sudden I see I've got a welcome. A chill went up my spine, and I scrambled to see if my last contribution (correcting a spelling of a word) set someone off. I think that's the case. Is there any way I can fall off the radar? Believe me, it is *not* my intention to be stepping on editors' toes on this site. What do I need to do to become invisible again? I'm sorry to be such a noob dumba$$ about all of this.  ;-(

Help

[edit]

Thank you for welcoming me to Wikipedia in such as way that I wanted to continue here at least on the article I authored. I have two questions:

How do I put a comment next to my edits on my history page?

What exactly do you mean by history page? If you mean the history page for an article you created, just type in whatever you want to fill in there into the edit summary area. -Razorflame 01:55, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

How do I put in footnotes--that is little numbers next to information for which I want to provide a reference. I am provide great references within my articles in parenthess as I prefer--which is also better for older people and their not having to read small print. However, two Wikipedias have faulted this method as my not providing any references at all and flagged my article as not meeting your standards accordingly. Thank you Ldsnh2` —Preceding comment was added at 00:19, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry, but I am unable to help you with this question, as I myself don't know how to put in footnotes. -Razorflame 01:55, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey Razorflame. it's me again. I just started creating the article for the upcoming film King Kong Vs. Jaws, b ut other users want to delete the page, claiming there is little content on it. Any suggestions or tips to keep the page?--5VH9 (talk) 21:45, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

The page has now been deleted, But i'm considering recreating it, but i'll still need your help--5VH9 (talk) 23:02, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

The page that is currently created for it needs the sources cleaned up. I am currently more active on the Simple English Wikipedia than on here, so if you have any questions, create an account there and ask me on there. Other than that, I am not very active on this account much. -Razorflame (talk) 15:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

{{helpme}} How do i add the final warning tag to a user's talk page?--5VH9 (talk) 02:17, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi 5VH9. It depends on what prior warnings you have used and the nature of the offending edits. For example, there are various escalating series such as {{uw-vand1}}, {{uw-vand2}}, {{uw-vand3}} and {{uw-vand4}}, or {{uw-spam1}}, {{uw-spam2}},{{uw-spam3}}{{uw-spam4}} and a number of others all with different purposes. The fourth in those series are the final warnings. For some types of egregious edits, you may start with later warnings or even jump right to a final warning, but all of this is taolored based on the nature of what you are warning about. Can you explain which user or what edit this is about to give some context to your question?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:27, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

How do i block a vandal user from editing?--5VH9 (talk) 02:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Only administrators have the power to block users from editing. -Razorflame 17:19, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Never mind.--5VH9 (talk) 02:57, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Despite your never mind, I'll explain anyway. Once you have gone through a final warning with a user, and they vandalize after a final warning and that rcecent vandalism is fresh (generally within the past hour or so), then you can report the user at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:10, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
