EARLY YEARS, EDUCATION AND CAREER

Early Life

Adewale is the seventh of nine children and the first born of his mother. Adewale's father married his mum after his first wife died leaving him with six children. Adewale was born to Prince Bisi Aladejana, a businessman who once ran Nigeria's most successful bookstore known as Bisi Books in the 80s before he took up political appointments first as a commissioner for the National Electoral Commission between 1989-1993, he was one of the commissioners who conducted the June 12, 1993 elections that saw MKO Abiola emerge as winner and President Elect. Prince Bisi Aladejana was also appointed as a Federal Commissioner under the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission. A post which he held till he died in 2010.

Career

Adewale worked at the TY Danjuma Foundation for 4 years and faced some difficulties at the office. This was what led him to explore his talent with perfumes. In Adewale's words " I had always been a perfume person, I always had a nose for perfume but I didn't know it was a gift. If I smell your perfume once, I would never forget it and I could tell you the name of the perfume if anyone ever wore it and walked past me". " I never knew my nose could make money for me"

On January 7 2013 Adewale met Oluwatoyin on Facebook and few months later he proposed to her at the palace of Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, a wealthy industrialist. Oba Adedapo Tejuoso was also chairman at their wedding

His quest to own his own business was reborn after he spent his one hundred and thirty thousand naira monthly salary on his wife in a bid to make her feel special on her birthday. Unfortunately, the salary finished just after he bought a phone and a gold chain for his wife with a two months old baby in the family. His wife’s birthday is April 1st so it was his salary for March that he had spent early in the month of April. So here is a man with a wife and a two months old baby without money in his pocket just a day into to the new month.

It was this situation that got him thinking. As a lover of perfumes who also have friends that travel every now and then to Dubai, he got some of them to bring in perfumes from Dubai for him. They did and an idea to start selling the perfumes also was born. He started advertising his perfumes while in the office using social media and within three months, Adewale who earns One hundred and thirty thousand naira monthly as salary had made a million naira from selling perfumes.

While these were going on, his pastor and mentor Biodun Fatoyinbo (COZA senior pastor) who have been observing him called him, gave him insights on how to expand the business and also gave him a cheque of one million naira and at this point Sapphire Scent was born and the rest became history.
