I don't think 140 Proof meets the criteria for a notable business in SOMA. There are dozens of notable tech companies in SOMA that are not listed on the template. The currently listed businesses are all bars, clubs, and hotels. Brandon (talk) 03:32, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw you followed up at the above AfD with this comment that mentioned the nominator was currently blocked. I don't think that comment was meant in bad faith, but the block was completely unrelated to the nomination, so it comes across as a bit of an ad hominem attack. Image width on McQueen articles[edit]

Hey, do you mind not fiddling with those? Sorry about the corny topic title; coffee was a bit strong.

I'm reaching out to you because I am starting a draft, User:Shortiefourten/The Sentinel (Centralia, Washington statue), about a bronze statue in Centralia. I came across your interest in sculpture when I edited American Doughboy Bringing Home Victory a couple years ago and that connection and your obvious experience/interest has stuck with me. What I'd like to ask - is there a sculpture article in Washington state that you would recommend that would be the absolute best to emulate? There are very few artwork articles in SW WA, so I want to help set a solid precedence for future articles me or others might have in the future for the region.

I know you are busy...how you're knocking on the door of 600k edits is mindboggling...but whenever you have a quick moment, I'd greatly appreciate it.

On a personal note, me and my husband celebrated our anniversary last year at a Seattle restaurant and we chose the locale because we came across a Wiki article that you wrote. That sealed the deal for me. So, if you continue to get grief for your restaurant articles, WP:CANVASS me. I know it's a fraught rule, but damn dude, your work is awesome and reaches people.

@Shortiefourten Wow, thanks! I appreciate your kind words. Indeed, I enjoy finding and writing about public art and sculpture, especially where I live and when I travel. Much of my work has been focused on Portland and Oregon, but I've promoted The Pioneer Mother Memorial (Vancouver) and Soaring Stones, which was relocated to Washington. Also, I was able to find some other Good examples of public art in Washington: Jet Kiss, Pioneer Square totem pole, Safe Return (statue), Statue of Lenin (Seattle), Winged Victory (Lewis). But don't limit yourself to Washington examples! There are many fantastic articles at WikiProject Sculpture. Good luck expanding The Sentinel! If I could offer one suggestion, I say start with grouping text into "Description", "History", and "Reception" sections; these seem to be the foundational sections of entries about individual artworks.
As for restaurants, I'm glad one of "my" entries was helpful to you. I, too, enjoy learning about restaurants on Wikipedia and often look up notable establishments when I travel. I think there are many editors who see restaurants and cuisine from the perspective of culture and history, but certainly there are those who assume that someone must just be attempting to plug a business on a popular website. Kudos more than deserved!
What you provided is more than enough - I asked for WA articles simply for the sense I get from long-term editors in the state is there's a real push for sameness in style, layouts, and approach. I've noticed the higher quality articles to tend to have the three sections you mentioned, so I'll certainly aim for that. How I didn't think of Winged Victory (Lewis) when I see it almost every day is beyond me...

Hello and welcome to the April 2024 newsletter, a quarterly digest of Guild activities since December. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below. We extend a warm welcome to all of our new members. We wish you all happy copy-editing.

Election results: In our December 2023 coordinator election, Zippybonzo stepped down as coordinator; we thank them for their service. Incumbents Dhtwiki and Miniapolis were reelected coordinators, and Wracking was newly elected coordinator, to serve through 30 June. Nominations for our mid-year Election of Coordinators will open on 1 June (UTC).

Drive: 46 editors signed up for our January Backlog Elimination Drive, 32 of whom claimed at least one copy-edit. Between them, they copy-edited 289 articles totaling 626,729 words. Barnstars awarded are here.

Blitz: 23 editors signed up for our February Copy Editing Blitz. 18 claimed at least one copy-edit and between them, they copy-edited 100,293 words in 32 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Drive: 53 editors signed up for our March Backlog Elimination Drive, 34 of whom claimed at least one copy-edit. Between them, they copy-edited 300 articles totaling 587,828 words. Barnstars awarded are here.

Blitz: Sign up for our April Copy Editing Blitz, which runs from 14 to 20 April. Barnstars will be awarded here.

Progress report: As of 23:17, 11 April 2024 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors have processed 109 requests since 1 January 2024, and the backlog stands at 2,480 articles.

We are approaching the end of the 2024 WikiCup's second round, with a little over two weeks remaining. Currently, contestants must score at least 105 points to progress to the third round.

Remember that only competitors with the top 32 scores will make it through to the third round.
