Overseas Filipinos

[edit]

Why is that section irrelevant? Polygnotus (talk) 22:25, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It talks about the liberalization of US immigration policy and lists out the various nationalities of immigrants in the US, which includes Filipinos, but is out of place in the article. There is also no citation for the section outlining the population numbers:
"from April 2023 report published by CNN there's approximately 40 million immigrants in the US, this consist of several nationalities, Mexican. 10.7M. Indian 2.71M. Chinese 2.38M. Philippines. 1.98M. El Salvador. 1.42M. Vietnam. 1.34M. Cuba. 1.28M. Dominican Republic. 1.26M."

On wikipedia every article has a WP:TALKPAGE where improvements to the article are discussed.
In this case the talkpage is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Overseas_Filipinos
It is probably a good idea to propose the change (and explain your reasoning) there and then people can respond and form a WP:CONSENSUS.
We get quite a bit of WP:VANDALISM so people are always a bit suspicious when a new editor deletes a bunch of text
I posted a more detailed response over at Talk:Overseas_Filipinos#Population_section.
Hope this helps, Polygnotus (talk) 22:37, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much @Polygnotus! I will review the tutorial on the welcome template. I appreciate the advice on how to approach making improvements on articles, I'll do a bit of reading on contributing before making my next edit.
Thanks and hope you have a great day. Aregino (talk) 22:50, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One word of warning: Wikipedia is super addictive! Thanks and have a nice day! The Wikipedia:Teahouse is always open for questions 24/7. Polygnotus (talk) 22:51, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
After thinking about it for a bit I agree with you so I have moved that text to the talkpage. It does not make sense to have a bunch of outdated and irrelevant information in the article. Polygnotus (talk) 23:00, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
