Irony thumbnail

[edit]

I'm not sure it's salvageable, really - the image is never going to be legible as a thumbnail, so the caption's going to have to do the hard work of explaining what it says and why it's ironic. It also goes against WP:SELFREF and WP:BIAS a bit - you're assuming that the reader is familiar with Wikipedia and understands what it means for an article to be "unreferenced", but anyone unfamiliar with the project will need to have that explained to them before they can understand it as an example of irony. At which point it needs to be in the body of the article rather than just a quick caption, and I'm not sure it stands up as a useful example.

It'd probably be more useful to pick one of the existing literary examples and illustrate that with a public domain image. --McGeddon (talk) 14:31, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, it's a nice find. Sorry we can't use it. --McGeddon (talk) 14:36, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:References noreferences.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:References noreferences.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:10, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
