There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. 331dot (talk) 23:03, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|I have not used My account for advertising or promotion, i have only edited other actors profiles by adding sources and edits about people unrelated and unknown personally to me. I didn’t realize My username was breaking any guidelines. I would happily change it.}}

Please reformat your existing request per the instructions in your block notice to request a new username. Please also review WP:COI and WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 23:28, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

i have only edited other actors profiles by adding sources and edits about people unrelated and unknown personally to me. I have not been nor will be paid to do said edits. I didn’t realize My username was breaking any guidelines. I would happily change it. I’m sorry for any inconvenience my ignorance has caused

Decline reason:

Dlohcierekim said, "I for one would be amenable to an unblock if you will agree not to write further about Mr Becker or any other subject connected with United Class Productions." That's the only way I'd be happy unblocking you, and you have not agreed to that yet. Yamla (talk) 12:30, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

yes I already did agree to that a long time ago.

Thank you for changing the user name. Does this mean I am no longer blocked?
No, you have just had your username changed, and you must wait for someone to review your actual unblock request. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 07:48, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot, Just Chilling, and Boing! said Zebedee: Endorse unblock. User has affirmed TBAN. Thoughts?-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 14:44, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I've read through this page - unblock looks good to me. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:51, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No further objections. 331dot (talk) 15:45, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Promotionalism

[edit]

Looks like you were promoting Bryan Becker, (gratuitously) adding his name to articles about others w/o a source or any indication of how he meets notability requirements. Perhaps we can unblock you if you agree to stop doing that. Not sure if his films would meet notability requirements or not. How is United Class Productions connected with Becker? -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 02:17, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I did add his name to articles. I Follow actors on the brink of popular success and felt the third party IMDB warranted a strong source for Bryan Becker to meet the notable requirements. I noticed connections between him and other film stars that already have a wiki page and thought I was helping strengthen the information on others pages by adding this information and backing it with the sources I included. I have no connection with this actor. I have plenty of other interests in other popular actors and can never edit anything to do with him if that’s what’s keeping me blocked from contributing what I know and learn of the film industry. Please let me know if I’m forbidden from his work and I’ll focus only on others.

Well, the word "brink" probably indicates they don't meet notability requirements such as WP:N, WP:ANYBIO, WP:NACTOR. And it would be unmanageable and indiscriminate to add all such connections, though I can see that it might have looked like a good idea at the time. IMDB does not convey notability for our purposes-- it is not considered a reliable source as it is editable by the subject. While personal knowledge is useful as a guide, all information needs to be cited to reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking. Your former user name intrigues me in a manner that I won't go into here. I for one would be amenable to an unblock if you will agree not to write further about Mr Becker or any other subject connected with United Class Productions. Hypothetically, if you were United Class Productions or editing on their behalf, WP:COI and WP:PAID would apply. Rather than decline the unblock request, I'll leave a link to the boilerplate I use when making such declines, User:Dlohcierekim/decline promo renamed. This way other admins will be able to see and review your request.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 10:06, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I’m not quite sure what you mean by “brink”. I already stated that I would not write about Bryan Becker and now feel like I am being asked to repeat myself and am being bullied, especially with the comment “Your former user name intrigues me in a manner that I won't go into here.” I clicked on the link and the first sentence reads “Posting another editor's personal information is harassment“ so I can only assume you are saying if it wasn’t against the rules you would harass me. Secondly the subject of the actor meets the requirements quite clearly for entertainment 1.1. Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions. I have already apologized and explained my reasons multiple times, I have already stated I have no connection and no interest in writing further about said actor. I feel as if I am being passive aggressively insulted and have no further interest in participating in this kind of environment. Perhaps someone can direct me on how to delete my account.

In an earlier post above, you stated "brink of popular success". Dlohcierekim was telling you that if someone is on the "brink" of success, they probably do not merit a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia articles are about things that are already notable, not things on the brink of notability.
Accounts cannot be deleted due to the structure of Wikipedia; if you no longer wish to use it, simply stop using it. I'm sorry you feel as you do, insulting you isn't anyone's intention. However, there are certain things that administrators like me and Dlohcierekim must be assured of. It isn't Dlohcierekim's intention to harass you, but any conflict of interest you have is relevant to this unblock request- including the fact that your original username was that of a production company. It's your choice whether you want to participate or not, but if you do there are certain policies that need to be complied with. 331dot (talk) 20:40, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was trying to nudge you into complying with WP:PAID voluntarily if it apples and not reveal the real world connection between your previous user name and Bryan Becker myself. I was trying to be discrete. The intriguing part was your use of the name of his production company while claiming no connection. I left the request for unblock undeclined so it may be reviewed by another admin who might agree to unblock you. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 03:54, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I understand, that makes sense now. You think I am Bryan Becker and I am promoting him and his business. I assure you that I am not Bryan Becker. I live in Arizona and just wanted to share what I knew. From what I understand Bryan Becker is not the owner of United Class, Brandon Miradi is. I could be wrong. However I can understand your reasons for thinking this based off my previous username. The reason for choosing my previous username is simply that I am a fan of those films and it’s easy to remember. I did not mean to misrepresent any business, persons, or myself. I use this name quite frequently on other platforms as I find it clever. I appreciate you leaving the request to be unblocked undeclined. I have learned a lot from this mistake and misunderstanding.
