As one of the satellite engineers, I was bothered by the incorrect references to CRSS and IKONOS - especially when I saw it being propagated to other web sites. I hope that the corrections and references I provided will clear up any misunderstandings.

I was also bothered by some minor technical reference inaccuracies. "Block 1" usually refers to the first iteration of any satellite (not just IKONOS). "Spacecraft" was also used incorrectly. "Spacecraft" refers to the entire satellite - both payload and bus. The term "Space Vehicle" refers to the bus only.

Iridium and CRSS were both commercial ventures that spun off separate commercial satellite bus lines. CRSS became known as the LM900 bus where Iridium became known as the LM700 bus.
