License tagging for Image:Fort barraux.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Fort barraux.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Image copyright problem with Image:Plan1692.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Plan1692.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. number of departments of France

Why did you make this change? Every other source says there are 100. --Mathew5000 19:09, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

You wrote on my talk page: "I made this change since there are 96 departements in metropolitian france. If you include the DOM/TOM (oversease departements) the total is 102. So at no point is the number 100." According to all the information I can find, there are 96 in metropolitan France but only 4 DOM, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, and Réunion. The other overseas territories of France are not departments but "collectivités d'outre-mer". See fr:Département français. --Mathew5000 18:43, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Maps of France

Chris - I would love your help with sources. Right now I use INSEE to verify my data - and then various maps of secteurs and quartiers from the various websites of communities that are available. Maybe as I make them I'll have you Q/C the data being that you reside in France. If you would like to learn more about making them, this would be a great learning opportunity for you as well! Among things that you've uploaded, the images on Barraux have been deleted as copyright violations. The article itself is also a major copyright violation. Please read up on copyrights, and try not to keep doing this. "can't" vs. "cant" on TGV

Just an FYI, the original spelling of "cant" that you replaced in TGV was correct and your change has been rolled back. The word in this case referred to the difference in elevation of the two sides of the track to help the trains go around curves at high speed. The outer rail on a curve is positioned slightly higher than the inner rail, much the same way as the road on a racetrack or major highway is constructed with a higher surface at the outside of a curve, to make negotiating curves easier for vehicles traveling on them. Wikify your articles!

Your translations of TER related articles are consistently unwikified. when translating articles from one languaged Wikipedia to another, you must wikify articles so they adhere to the ruloes that govern the Wikipedia they are edited in. Here are errors you have consistantly spread and I have repaired, use this list as a help:

Chapter/section naming only bares capital letters on the first common word
localities in need of disambiguation have the departement they are located in added at the end of their name with the use of a comma not a bracket.
Classes of French rolling stock is preceeded by SNCF Class to disambiguate their name with unrelated content of the same or similar name.

A heads up

Being non-deletionist at heart and someone who mentors newcomers regularly as a member of WP:Wc/WP:WC, I find I like Template:Work(edit talk links history) a lot, but you will have to defend it versus the current facilities which perform the same task sooner or later. (I categorized it, but am not nominating it for deletion. You snuck one by the system for a while, I guess. Do believe in cats on templates though.)
See for example the ongoing Tfd discussion on Template:Construction(edit talk links history) which will soon loose, unless my tea leaves are out of calibration. Also left you a note on Talk:Spiculum which edit lead me on a series of edits reaching this note, which when I back out of, will have me finish by removing work from that article.
Such long term notices are somewhat frowned upon as going against the five pillars, and the principle that anyone can edit. Suggest you morph this into a Section version of '{{Inuse}}', which is an actual need, insofar as I can see. Sneak that into the Wikipedia Templates page so others begin to use it, and it should be fine. I linked that as well as the editing article where you can also mention it.
Locking a section I think used to be a option, iirc, but that template seems to have gone away. As your work template stands now, it is merely redundant without any distinguishing differences from the stand-point of our society. It is, less ugly by far! I agree with Chris5897 and have just removed that tag again. The better version is merely a different version of the logo - there were several - another variation is totally monochrome grey (including where the red, green, blue bars denoting mainland nations appear). The alternative version Image:BBC 1986-1997 logo.jpg is still BBC copyright, even though http://www.tvradiobits.co.uk might have granted permission - so is no better, or worse than this one - just different.
