Col (Ret) Keith M. Nightingale

Col (Ret) Keith Nightingale is a retired United States Army Colonel. He is now self-employed as a military advisor, business consultant, and a published author.

Education

Graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a BS in Political Science (Class of '65)

Military Career

Col Nightingale commanded four rifle companies, three Airborne and/or Ranger Battalions and two brigades. He had two tours in Vietnam, was a member of JTF 1-79, Eagle Claw—the Iran Hostage Rescue Attempt, was an original member of both 1-75 Rangers and Joint Special Operations Command, assault force commander in Grenada and the reconstitution of Panama. He commanded the Joint and International Brigade For reconsitution in Grenada and the Ranger Training brigade. He served a portion of his career assigned to the Central Intelligence Agency. He finished his career in Southern Command as Director, DDN—a unique Interdepartmental & Joint Task Force to assist in the capture of Pablo Escobar, interdict drug shipments into the United States and support Host Nation interdiction operations in the Andean Ridge. He retired in 1993 at the grade of Colonel.

Civilian Career

Keith joined Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and rose to Executive Vice President for International and Security Affairs. He coordinated and overwatched more than 1B$ in International business-primarily in the Desert warzones including security and support teams. His team was the first credited security contractor element into Iraq while providing more than 100 contracts to support throughout the warzone.

Upon retirement from SAIC, Keith has served as an advisor to numerous senior military personalities on Defense and Pol-Mil issues as well as a business consultant to several scientific organizations.

He regularly provides staff rides and historical lectures in Normandy during the anniversary period to the Active duty military as well as executive learning and team building to private firms using D Day locations as the teaching example. His customers have included General Electric and Scott’s Garden products.

Awards & Honors

Keith has been awarded three Legions of Merit, the Defense Superior Service Medal, Three Bronze Stars with V (Valor), two additional Bronze Stars for combat-related service, the Joint Service Commendation medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal (Iran). Keith is a member of the French Legion of Honor (Officer) and the Ranger Hall of Fame.
