A tag has been placed on CSS Publishing Company, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Status and Advice

I'm the admin who deleted the article for the second time. Please don't reinsert it until you can do it properly: I'll explain how. (I'm a person not a computer program, and this isn't a form notice-- I'm writing it as I go to address your particular problem)

On the now-deleted talk p., you said : "CSS Publishing Company is very important Christian publisher to the religious community in USA for creating the first line of resources that use the Lectionary- an agreement between churches to split the Bible into a 3-year cycle for preaching and worship purposes; so that the entire Bible is used every three years. This page is not unambiguously promotional because CSS Publishing Company is up there with the major denominational publishers, Augsburg Fortress (ELCA), Concordia Publishers (LCMS), United Methodist Publishing House, etc... in terms of it's reach and importance in content. This page was meant for informational purposes. I removed some of the advertise-like talk and just kept the basic informational content."

The p. was deleted not for failure to show importance, but because it is still promotional. But without some evidence of importance, it would be deleted in any case: you need to show it, not assert it. A Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. In your case, you need references that will show the importance of your projects and publications. You assert reach, but you need evidence. You assert the importance of the content of your publications. If it's important, the major christian magazines and similar sources should have had articles or reviews on them. And if your company is really important, similarly there should be articles.

A Wikipedia article also needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release--don't praise the organization or person, or talk about the overall importance of the subject--talk about what they have accomplished. Remember not to copy from a web site, even your own -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you own the copyright and are willing to give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable.

Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia. Do not include material that would be of interest only to those associated with the subject, or to prospective readers--that sort of content is considered promotional.

As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what you want to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. And keep in mind that the goal of an encyclopedia is to say things in a concise manner, which is not the style of press releases or web sites, which are usually more expansive.

If you think you can do it right according to our guidelines, do so, but expect the article to be carefully checked for objectivity. It may take a while to write--to give you a chance to do it properly, I've blocked re-creation for just 3 days--after the holiday, try again.

However, since the name you have used includes or refers to the subject of the article, you must choose another username. As explained in WP:USER, when you have a username that is or includes the name of your organization, you imply that you are editing officially, and have a superior right to edit the page. But that is not the way WP works--all editors are considered equal--and your contributions like those of any editor must be justified by sources. Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen (Cspar.css) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest.
