mxmtoon

Hi, Ben. I was working on an article about mxmtoon and was about to go move my draft (User:Levivich/sandbox3) to mainspace when I checked and found Draft:Mxmtoon. What do you think about pulling it out of the AfC queue and merging the two drafts? Levivich 01:59, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan Levivich :) Shall we merge it into Mxmtoon? I'll copy over my article content now and then you can add on the content from your's that isn't inside mine (like crtical reception, Bandcamp releases, extra career content etc.). There are one or two things that aren't necessarily correct (e.g. although Maia did play cello at school, it isn't an instrument that she currently uses in her career; she also has chosen to not reveal her full name for safety reasons,[1] so she is a considered a pseudonymous musician. Also, I worked on this when I was still a Wikipedia newbie so a lot of the references are very badly done and are missing authors, dates, links to the articles for press pages etc.
Let me know if you need any help or clarity :) HeyitsBen(talk) 15:19, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Yup, that sounds great! I'll add in the stuff from my sandbox draft, and if you don't mind, probably change the cites to list-defined refs with the {{r}} template. Have you thought about nominating this article for WP:DYK? I can see you've been creating articles; I think they'd make good DYKs for the main page. The deadline is 7 days after it's in mainspace, so, the clock is now ticking. :-) Levivich 16:08, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
@Ben: OK, I merged everything I got into the article. Please take a look and revert/edit as you see fit. I might tinker a bit with minor things, but what I've added/changed is basically all I've got. Let me know what you think. Levivich 02:21, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Levivich, the article looks so so so good!! Thank you so much for all the help. I think it's definitely ready to be nominated for WP:DYK! Let me know if you do so, or if you need any help on anything else :) HeyitsBen(talk) 06:48, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! What do you think of these hooks:
... that 19-year-old mxmtoon, who self-produces lo-fi songs recorded in her parent's guest bedroom, reached 100 million online streams and nearly sold out an international tour, all before releasing her first album?
... that 19-year-old mxmtoon began her career by recording music in her parent's guest bedroom, using hair extensions to create percussion tracks? Levivich 16:02, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Levivich They look really good. I think they are ready to go! Please credit me as one of the authors of the article... I'd really love this to be my first DYK nod :) HeyitsBen(talk) 17:24, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Absolutely! Of course! I'm going to take another pass through it and then I'll put up the nomination. Levivich 17:48, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Levivich :) I recently managed to find Maia's full name (after a lot of researching and digging around the internet). There are many sources that can prove her true name, however I am afraid that I will infringe her privacy if I disclose it to the public. Would you like me to e-mail you what I found? Or should I just leave it? HeyitsBen(talk) 15:06, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Levivich Congratulations on having your hook being promoted! I've made a few major changes to the article today... feel free to revert or change what you want or correct any errors that I may have made :) heyitsben!! talk 18:09, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
I think all your recent improvements to the article have been awesome! (Also I dig the new sig.) I made one little copy edit to a sentence, but this article is looking great. Good job! Levivich 20:56, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Levivich Do you think it is appropriate to add Maia's full name to the article and use [1] as a source, just like in Alison Wonderland? I feel like it would be cruel to Maia as we would be invading her privacy and exposing her identity to the greater public without her permission. heyitsben!! talk 17:04, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
I agree with you that it would not be appropriate without her permission. For one thing, that source (and others like it) are WP:PRIMARY, rather than secondary, sources, and we have a policy, WP:BLPPRIMARY, which basically says do not use primary sources for personal information like names and DOBs. WP:BLPPRIVACY and WP:BLPNAME say the same thing. The policies basically say not to use a real name until it is widely reported in reliable sources... so if it starts showing up in Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines, sure, we can put it in, but not until then. I agree with your general approach to err on the side of caution. Levivich 20:42, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

HeyitsBen, I notice that you created this nomination template about a month ago, but you never finished the nomination process by doing step 3 on the nominations page: Post at Template talk:Did you know.

If you are still interested in pursuing this nomination, please transclude it on the Nominations page under September 7 (you'll have to add a new date header for it). If you need help doing so, let me know, and I'll be happy to do the transcluding for you—it is not too late. The bbno$ article is eligible, but if you want to pursue the double bolded hook including Y2K, you'll need to do significant work on the article: it currently has 228 prose characters, and the minimum prose character count for DYK is 1500. (You could always retain Y2K as a non-bold link if you aren't prepared to expand the article on him.) If you are no longer interested in pursuing the nomination, please let me know, and I'll arrange to close the nomination. Thank you very much for your interest in Did you know (DYK). BlueMoonset (talk) 04:09, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

BlueMoonset, I completely forget about pursuing with the third step of the nomination process! I've submitted the hook without Y2K in bold. Is there anything else I should do in order to prevent it from being overlooked by reviewers? Thank you for the reminder :) heyitsben!! talk 13:54, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
HeyitsBen, it should be all set now. I imagine it will be picked up in the near future. Best of luck! BlueMoonset (talk) 17:59, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Removing chart references

Hi. Can you stop removing the extra chart references every time the Hung Medien websites update? It is annoying to have to re-add the references every week when the song achieves a new peak on each chart. When the song has finished its chart run in most countries, or is descending the chart(s) rather than ascending, then would be an appropriate time to remove the extra references. In most cases, I am the one updating these peaks and having to restore these references week upon week, not you, and it adds extra unnecessary work to have to copy the entire reference back to the article every week because you keep feeling the need to remove them. You cannot seriously be so concerned with extra references upsetting the aesthetics of the wikitable that you need to keep doing so. So take this into consideration and stop removing these references from Ashe (singer), Benee and wherever else. Thank you. Ss112 15:58, 17 March 2020 (UTC)

Will do Ss112. My apologies. heyitsben!! talk 16:18, 17 March 2020 (UTC)

Your referencing on Kid Krow

Hi. Random Twitter fan accounts like "conancharts" are not reliable sources per WP:TWITTER. It doesn't matter what they're reporting on, have taken a picture or video of. They should not be used. It's like citing blogs on Wordpress—anyone can set one up. It doesn't make them a reliable source of information or a notable critic if they are being used as such. Only verified accounts (e.g. actual musicians' accounts) making uncontroversial statements about themselves and not a third party are reliable. Kworb is not reliable per WP:ALBUMAVOID, as it is a "blog with no editorial oversight". iTunes statistics, unless truly exceptional and widely reported on in reliable sources, should not be included as it is a WP:SINGLEVENDOR. Same with Spotify, although exceptionally high streaming numbers and/or if an artist has gotten attention from becoming notable due to playlist placement on the platform may be reported on sparingly. A number one on iTunes is really nothing special these days. Also, please do not use "#25" to list peaks. MOS:NUMBERSIGN says to either use "number" or "No." and make the use consistent. Two final things: Be wary of using speculative sources like Headline Planet and Hits Daily Double as if they know or are privy to concrete information. They speculate and estimate. It is never official until Billboard publishes their article. As we have now seen, the numbers you inserted into the article were inaccurate and/or incomplete. Also, do not insert Rolling Stone charts until the chart reads "Finalized" in the top-left per WP:RSCHART. "Projected" chart data is not final. Thanks. Ss112 23:01, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your advice Ss112, I really appreciate it and I am taking it all into consideration. Apologies for any inconveniences caused. heyitsben!! talk 09:09, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
