History of England[edit]
You need to explain why you are rewriting large sections of article text. See Help:Editing#Major edits. It would be best to summarise this on the article talk page, but it would also help if you were to use edit summaries as well. The danger in doing a large unexplained rewrite, is that some editors may simply view it as vandalism, and revert your changes without further thought. Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:14, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Hello, I see that you have added some argumentation to the origin of the name "London". Do you have a published reference for the argument? If so, please include it, otherwise the text is original research and is not allowed in Wikipedia. If you have a citation for it, can I suggest that it would fit better in the article Etymology of London (to which I have just added a 'main article' link in the section you edited)? I also think that it would benefit from expansion, because at present I cannot actually work out what in Coates' theory you say needs revision. --ColinFine (talk) 21:07, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I see that you added a novel etymological root for the the name "Cerdic". I have reverted your edit because: 1) you did not leave the existing derivation intact (which has citations lower down in the body of the article), and 2) your derivation was not supported by a reference to published material. Do you have a published reference for the argument? If so, please include it, otherwise the text is original research and is not allowed in Wikipedia.
It is a good point of etiquette to flag any major changes you might want to make to an article by mentioning it on the article's discussion page first, you therby alert any other editors who have an interest. Urselius (talk) 11:10, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
