Joe Lane

Hi Dudesleeper. I'm actually working on the German Wikipedia article of Blackpool F.C.! First of all: Well done! I enjoyed reading your English version a lot and my revision will very much base on your information. I was wondering about Joe Lane. You mention that your "early hero" played in Hungary before joining Sunderland. Do you have some detailed information about the circumstances of his stay there? Thanks very much for your help and regards --Vince2004 18:01, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Rafa Benitez

I have read several biographies on Benitez and none mentioned him been the prolific goalscoring forward that these stats suggest. They regularly describe his as a hard working midfielder. If he scored 181 goals in 190 games for Real’s reserves don’t you think he might have actually played at least one game for the first team ? The only goal I’ve ever heard him being credited with at all is one he scored for the Spain Universities XI which is mentioned in article. I suspect whoever added this stats is a bit of a wind up merchant. Djln--Djln 23:13, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Mc/Mac

Thanks for your understanding. How can we get the word out to the wider Wikipedia community re the above (including Chappy, who undid one of the edits)?

Default sorting

Hi! I sent two messages on 5 Sept. to the help desk asking for confirmation re the issue we discussed (default sorting Mc/Mac) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk#Mc.2FMac.3B_etc, but no responses even though later messages were already answered. What to do?

Kieron Dyer

Hi,

I do not understand why you took the "Dyer and Newcastle fans" bit out of the Dyer page. I took my warning from some months ago (where admittedly I was being mischevious) and the piece was a truthful mini-article on his time with Newcastle and in no way "sour grapes" as you put it. It was based on facts - The refusal to play right wing, not taking the armband and the booing and egg throwing, all of which have been printed in the local AND national press. He was, as I said, a talent that has lost his way and I wish him well with West Ham. You may have though sections of it could have been changed but there is no way the whole section should have been removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kerouac151 (talkcontribs) 15:04, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Mickey Walsh

A Michael Thomas Walsh played for City seven times in 1983–84. This is a different guy (different middle name, born in Blackley, not Chorley), but could well have been confused with him. Oldelpaso 16:51, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Rangers internationalists

I left WATP's comments in the discussion area because he did not support the proposal. He proposes moving it to something else. As such i did not think that it should be left in the survey of the proposal. Was that incorrect? Woodym555 10:15, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Nope, it just seemed discriminatory to have it sat on its own under another heading. - Dudesleeper · Talk 12:04, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Dyer

It wasn't "point of view". Did he refuse to play right wing? Yes. Did he refuse the captain's armband? Yes. Did he get booed by his own fans? Yes. As I said, all of which was printed in the press. Ok, the Oliver bit was put in for fun but the rest of it was a fairly balanced piece on his time with Newcastle. Unfortunately Mr Dyer's time at NUFC was about much more than just his activities on the pitch, sorry for trying to make people aware of that. How is what I printed dramatically different from the Alex Rodriguez section entitled "criticism"? kerouacKerouac151 14:24, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I'll be honest, I have no idea how to reference onto the article itself. Do I just paste in the link such as - http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/news/tm_method=full%26objectid=14537446%26siteid=50081-name_page.html ?? Kerouac151 15:03, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Cheers - thanks for that. I'll do some work on the piece and see if that is any better! Kerouac151 15:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

West Brom managers

Hi, you removed the section headers from the West Brom managers article that i had recently added. I think it needs it for several reason. When the Lead is expanded per WP:LEAD and per the Wikipedia:Featured list criteria it will look out of place. The Lead is meant to introduce the main body of the list. The list should be a separate section from the main table. See List of Aston Villa F.C. managers for an example of how it should look when the Lead and images are introduced. Another point is that if anyone wants to edit the table they must edit the whole page instead of just editing a section. I accept that at the moment it may seem like future proofing but it goes with the review that i left on the talk page (and the thinking that it will be improved soon) and will be needed if it is an FLC in the future. Would you mind if i added in the section header again or do you think it should wait until the Lead is up to scratch? Comments appreciated Woodym555 19:05, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Harry McShane

Here is the source for where I got Harry McShane playing for Blackpool. It was during WW II and some clubs do not count that period with the club. Thanks! Patken4 22:09, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Nottingham Forest

I am complaining to the heads of wikipedia about you. You have deleted a good portion of Forest's information on at least five different occasions and I am formally reporting you to the Wikipedia bots. Furthermore, I've also noticed that your not that popular with other people either. You are a sad weirdo who sits on the Internet all day and deletes updations just to annoy the hell out of people. You are nothing more than a user look me and others, your not a moderator and never will be. And don't both deleting this comment because I will put it back on because I'm making a copy. Smithy33 15:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, the bots wield a lot of power on Wikipedia. - Dudesleeper · Talk 15:31, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Well you are from Maine at the end of the day so what do you expect from a bloody American? You know nothing about Nottingham Forest FC or anything about the way this ENGLISH SITE deals with information. You haven't a clue and I bet you have never even been to England, maybe Scotland but call yourself a Blackpool FC fan, don't make me laugh, you probably have never seen them play. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithy33 (talkcontribs) 15:35, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
You read remarkably well, I can tell. - Dudesleeper · Talk 17:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
LOL, you're warning me? What are you going to do? All you are is a fellow user and if you delete valuable information off Forest, then I will delete valuable information off Blackpool. Consider this as your first warning. Smithy33 14:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Blackpool kits

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. There were two kits that were dark blue and light blue stripes. I'm not sure of the seasons. However, what I can tell you for certain (as I have the replica shirts at home) is that there were two shirts plus another with dark blue and white stripes -

  • Dark blue & light blue stripes shirt with "Rebeccas of Southport" as sponsors (v-neck shirt with collar)
  • Dark blue & light blue stripes shirt with "Electricity Direct" as sponsors (round-neck shirt with no collar)
  • Dark blue & white stripes shirt with "Rebeccas of Southport" as sponsors (v-neck shirt with collar) - this one also has the BFC crest as a watermark on it.

Hope that helps. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 15:07, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Can somebody please update the quickest ever goal in the Carling Cup second round as Paul Smith after 5 seconds for Nottingham Forest v Leicester City on 18 September, 2007. For more information about the goal, please see the players page and its in the information section near the bottom. Please can someone get back to me and verify to me whether this is the quickest goal in the Carling Cup, maybe in world football and he's surely the quickest goalkeeper ever to score in the world? Please reply, regards, Smithy33 19:54, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
