Herding cats

"Categories into alphanumeric order, living people should come immediately after birth year" [1] Can you point me to where it says this? I have been putting them in ascii-betical order. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:13, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

My edit summary is simply an explanation of what I did, rather than policy. The relevant guideline is Wikipedia:FAQ/Categorization, which states "alphabet and importance are used to order categories". In my experience, the important categories are "eponymous categories" followed by "birth year", then "death year/living people"; then followed by everythng else in alphanumeric order.
