Welcome![edit]

Hello, HandsDigital, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! shoy (reactions) 13:58, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

October 2019[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "HandsDigital", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to be the name of a business, group, or organization that implies shared use. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. shoy (reactions) 13:58, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. A tag has been placed on User:HandsDigital/sandbox/PlayCam, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Requested username:

Request reason:

The previous username indicated that my account represents a business or other organisation. I did not choose this username, it had automatically been assigned. Both my account and article have been tagged for Speedy deletion due to a suspected "unambiguous advertising".
This is not the case with both account and article.

With regards to the article, I merely look to summaries and giving information on the subject to inform and educate. There has been continued misinterpretation surrounding this particular subject. Submitting this article to the larger Wikipedia community would assist to bring clarification on this commercial entities - the fundamentals of Wiki

After reading the Wikipedia:Spam, I can see that the External link spamming could be the reason for the Speedy deletion?

As per a previous talk with User:Shoy, I submitted the article to userspace drafts and requested another editor to revise and proofread the article. I have made a conscious effort to write in a neutral point of view. I have NOT submitted this to promotes a company or spam

Decline reason:

The username issue is now resolved. However, your answers here(which are somewhat evasive) and information about your previous username leads me to suspect there is more to this than you are telling, and until an administrator can be assured that you are being completely honest and direct here, and has a better idea of what you want to edit if unblocked, I am not comfortable unblocking you. As such, I am declining this request. You are free to make another to attempt to convince another administrator to unblock you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 331dot (talkcontribs)

Usernames are not "automatically assigned"; someone has to type the username in when creating an account. Did you create this account? 331dot (talk) 10:17, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

331dot (talk) - I did create this account by registering an email address and password. When registering, it never ask to assign a username. If I could change this, that would be great.

Evidently you typed in "HandsDigital" in the spot where you are supposed to type in a username, but it's okay now that I have changed your username. 331dot (talk) 16:21, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What is your association with the subject you were writing about? 331dot (talk) 16:23, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

331dot (talk) - Thank you for the name change. I have no direct association with the subject, the company operates from the same offices. As previously mentioned, there has been continued misinterpretation surrounding this particular subject.

I submitted the article to userspace drafts and requested another editor to revise the article. Ensuring the article comply with the Wikipedia:Five pillars rules and is written from a neutral point of view. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.43.96 (talk) 13:50, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You say "no direct association" but that the company operates from the "same offices". That's going to require some additional explanation. 331dot (talk) 13:54, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

331dot (talk) - Apologies, I have now logged in. I have no direct affiliation with the company, it simply operates within the same building. The companies name is misassociated with the adult entertainment industry (which it clearly isn't involved in).

As a solution, I have submitted this article as a conscious effort to detail and interpret this commercial entities - this is not an attempt to spam or advertise the subject. With Wikipedia's large community and impressive reputation, I hope to better inform within this article.

If you aren't affiliated directly or otherwise with the company, what is your interest in helping them differentiate themselves from other similarly named companies? Which- in any event- is not a concern of Wikipedia. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state about article subjects that meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability- in this case, the definition of a notable company. Based on what you wrote, I don't think PlayCam meets that definition. 331dot (talk) 14:23, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

331dot (talk) - I have not submitted the article for the purpose of the company. I have submitted to better educate the subject.

After reviewing the reliable sources it states that; "If no reliable sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article on it.” - I have provided independent reliable sources within the reference section of the article.

These sources are creations of independent journalists (1.1 - Definition of a source), have been published and are visible (1.2 Definition of published), are factual and informative (1.3 Context matters)

Could you explain which part of the a notable company the subject falls short in? Thanks again 331dot

Request reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

So, let's see if we can get this clear: you came here as User:PlayCam, created two promotional pages (now deleted) about a company called PlayCam, and were blocked for the promotional username; so a few minutes later you created User:HandsDigital and created two more pages about PlayCam (those too are now deleted). And you did this because the company is in the same building as you, even though you have no connection to it whatsoever? Questions that spring to mind:
  • Why did you choose to edit under the name of a company that you have no connection to?
  • Why have you been so determined to create a page about that company?
  • Why did you then choose to edit under the name of a digital marketing/SEO company (which by the way is not in the same building in Hornchurch as PlayCam, but about 3 km away in Rainham)? Note: by a remarkable co-incidence, that digital marketing company designed the website of PlayCam.
  • Do you have any interest in contributing to Wikipedia in order to improve it, or is promotion your only purpose here?
To have any chance of being unblocked you'll probably need to provide clear and transparent answers to these questions and those asked by 331dot above. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:39, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As I said earlier, usernames are not automatically selected; it sounds like your browser's autofill put the name in. Can I assume that means you work for HandsDigital? 331dot (talk) 19:48, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
