Image:World Distribution of Mid-Oceanic Ridges.gif[edit]

I have fixed the licensing tag for Image:World Distribution of Mid-Oceanic Ridges.gif. You had tagged it as Template:GFDL, however I could not find any verification that the image was licensed as such on their webpage. But as a work of the US Government (and more specifically the US Geological Survey), the image is in the public domain. Therefore I tagged it with the corresponding tag Template:PD-USGov-Interior-USGS. I found that tag from the list at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/USA. In the future, please be more careful about how you tag images. If you need any help in that regard, I'd be glad to help you out. And if you have any questions about our image use policy, feel free to ask.-Andrew c [talk] 14:16, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say a very important tip would be to go to Wikipedia:Upload, and read carefully the options, and select the appropriate one. If the source is the federal government (like the ocean ridge image), you would click that link. If the image is something you created yourself, you can click the very first link on the upload page. After you have done that and you are at the corresponding upload form, make sure to read all the instructions. Then fill out all of the provided boxes and information. Give information on the file name, a description, info on the author and source, etc. And most importantly, choose a licensing tag from the provided drop down menu on the upload form page. If the image is not self created, you have to take very good care that the licensing tag is accurate with how the source licensed the image. The reason why your other two images were deleted was because they did not have any licensing tag which means you left that portion of the upload form blank. If you have specific questions, or have an image you need help with, I'd be glad to help you out, but for now, hopefully this generally overview is helpful to you. Good luck!-Andrew c [talk] 14:58, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Haji Yusoff Mosque.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Haji Yusoff Mosque.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 06:51, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Al-Istighfar Mosque.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Orphaned non-free image File:Al-Mawaddah Mosque Logo.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Al-Mawaddah Mosque Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:24, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
