Welcome and Thank You

[edit]

Thanks for introducing me to the wonderful world of editing on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, my school here is on an infinite ban for vandalism, so there is not much I can do while I am wasting my hours away at school. And by the way, 05:14, 4 August 2005 is the closest I can get to your account creation, which is when Longhair first welcomed you. JTFryman 21:19, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ha ha, and, I made the account before that... I had just never posted anything before. I was too timid, and didn't know what I was doing then. JJJJust 19:17, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Bapudi

[edit]

Very neatly put on the Bapudi AFD. It seems to me that all the four (likely fewer) editors rallying to keep the article have done since the AFD was opened has been to muddy up the waters and try to confuse other editors about the article's subject. That they have been so ambiguous with it (the only external link in the article that even contains the word Bapudi refers to him/her as a music artist) only serves to further dig their case's grave. Not being able to decide if your cause of the day is a musician or a foundation or a film, or possibly an ancient religion with untranslated text isn't a healthy state to be in. :) --Kuzaar-T-C- 03:38, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And, I bet the article is just going to be back up again.
Well if they do this time maybe the speedy will stick. *shrugs* This whole thing is getting to be as bad as some soap operas. BJK 16:48, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh. Well, I've been trying to reasonably point out the flaws in what they've tried to assert on the AFD, but they seem uninterested in actually addressing my doubts, but rather prefer to obfuscate the issue. I just hope that an admin is going to be able to get to the AFD and address it soon. Thanks for your kind words on my talk page, by the way, JJJ. --Kuzaar-T-C- 17:02, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well it just got deleted so I suppose this is where it hits the fan eh? BJK 19:10, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
        • Japhar isn't content that consensus has been declared and is continuing to policy-lawyer at me on the AFD talk page, so you might say that it continues to be an issue. By the way, please leave any further messages for me on my talk page, I don't want to bug JJJJust any more than necessary. :) --Kuzaar-T-C- 20:00, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rush Limbaugh

[edit]

Thanks, never mind. NawlinWiki 00:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good work on the page. As I'm sure you've noticed, a few extremely ardent Limbaugh fans will tolerate nothing on the article page that paints Limbaugh in less than a flattering light. Some of these same editors are blanking the Palm Beach incident at will, and attempting to game the system on the Talk Page. Ah, well... we've seen this before. Despite what some are claiming, there is no consensus on the Talk page to remove the incident. Just some loud wailing. Eleemosynary 01:34, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There's an RFC on the Talk page now, where people are voting as to whether to keep the airport detention incident in the article. You may want to stop by and vote. Eleemosynary 23:09, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Fagatron

[edit]

Not only that, but it's already up to more, and... it had already been deleted (see deletion log) when I'd tagged it in its first incarnation, although that was just one line of nonsense. GassyGuy 11:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We may not only have the record for most tags applied, but also most users/bots applying them. What a momentous occasion. I, for one, feel honoured to be a part of it. GassyGuy 11:35, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The warnings on the guy's talk page cracked me up, too. "Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Fagatron...." Priceless. GassyGuy 11:42, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Wikisource tag

[edit]

Please check Wikisource first to see if it needs the material before tagging anything for transwiki. The best way the verify what WS has is to check the Author page in the Author namespace. Nearly all authors are linked from ther WP pages. People may use slightly different titles so authors are generaly authorative. Thanks.--Birgitte§β ʈ Talk 13:15, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi :). About the OP's: i used Shaun's Proxycheck, (vcn), and it indicated every one was "Not an open Proxy". I was told by an administrator that this is enough to use Inconclusive evidence or Not an open proxy, which I did. But I don't mind if you leave it as Open proxy. Thanks! --Deon555talkReview 23:22, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I believe they all are Open proxy's. They're are many proxy's i've tested with VCN that have shon up "not an open proxy", when, infact, they were. I use mainly other tools, but admins who block sometimes check with VCN and they're like uhhh it's not a proxy :P. Well yeh, i'll just use my best judgement (and the best tools ;) ). Have a good day.--Deon555talkReview 03:53, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite sure why you have picked me to reprimand and lecture about this. Check my contributions, since you obviously have targeted me for this offense.

Rather unfriendly and patronizing of you, as this message to you is only my third edit here but I know enough not to copyvio in really life. I'm not dumb. What about all that stuff about don't bite the newbies? You don't follow that I guess.

Missing image Image:Brain.png

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Brain.png, by Strangerer (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Brain.png is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Brain.png, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:42, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AmericanPageant12th.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AmericanPageant12th.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 12:13, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Annie Jacobsen

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Annie Jacobsen, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Annie Jacobsen seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Annie Jacobsen, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. WikiProject C-SPAN?

[edit]

Greetings fellow Wikipedia editor -

I am leaving you this note because I have reason to believe that you are interested in C-SPAN. (I may have made this assumption based on your C-SPAN user box, or perhaps for some other reason.) If this is not an interest of yours, please feel free to read no further and delete this message.

If you are in fact someone who is interested in C-SPAN, then let me put forward an idea that I have been kicking around for a while. What if we started a C-SPAN WikiProject?

The parameters of this (potential) project are up for discussion, but it could include some or all of the following (as well as things that may occur to you that have not occurred to me):

  • Creation, maintenance, and improvement of articles and lists directly related to C-SPAN and its programming.
  • Use of C-SPAN programming in citations for various topics
  • Inclusion of unique and targeted C-SPAN video links for various articles. (Doing this with respect for established guidelines at Wikipedia:External links.) (Example: If you are interested in the submarine USS Wyoming (SSBN-742), then having easy access to the eight hours of programming taped while a C-SPAN crew were guests on that submarine could also be of interest to you.)
  • Inclusion of (and possible further creation of) templated links such as {{C-SPAN|laurabush}}, that will easily take article readers to a link of all C-SPAN Video Library links for the person about whom the article is about.
  • What else?

I don't know exactly how far we may want to go, nor in what directions, but I do believe (as I have long noted on my user page) that C-SPAN and Wikipedia are both...

...fantastic vehicles for the free exchange of ideas and information in a non-sound-bite manner, and they both invite the participation of any parties (expert or amateur) who are interested in taking the time to absorb and/or contribute to the ideas and information offered. C-SPAN and Wikipedia go together like peanut butter and jelly, and I want to help give other Wiki users easy access to the great work that C-SPAN has done on a variety of topics.

Now, I should mention that I have never started a WikiProject before, and I do not know the best way to go about it. (Perhaps one of you do?) Let me offer one of my sandbox pages, User:KConWiki/sandbox/Wikiproject C-SPAN?, as a gathering area for comments until such time as we gather enough steam to start our own WikiProject page.

Thanks for reading this far, and I hope that you will give some consideration as to whether this is something we ought to attempt. Please feel free to pass this message on to others you know whom might be interested, and please let me know your thoughts and comments.

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi JJJJust,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
