pokecord and conflict of interest

[edit]

You're the developer of pokecord++. There is an obvious conflict of interest in you advertising it in Pokémon competitive play. --~~ Prince Ludwig (talk) 01:48, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edits about smogon university and pokemon showdown have also been posted by contributors and owners of the project. Pokecord++ is simply another pokemon simulator like pokemon showdown and has official verification by discord as per the references provided. The rules for pokecord++ differ from that of showdown and thats all that was detailed in the changed made. Jerick120 (talk) 05:22, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
incidentally, you may or may not be engaged in an edit war, so i really recommend discussing that in the talk page before making any edits
but considering how your sources are bulbapedia and discord (which are user-generated by the definitions of wikipedia), i don't think they can stay cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:05, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i should clarify that
  • i'm not opposed to pokécord's inclusion, but only if reliable, independent sources can be found for its existence and notability. a primary source or two on how it functions should be fine enough for now, but not a criterion for inserting it, and should not take priority over what secondary sources have to say (unless they get it wrong, in which case things will get a little confusing)
  • "pokémon" and "ai" are a proper noun and an acronym respectively, and thus should be properly capitalized. i am exactly this petty
  • i don't vibe with sources 12 - 26 all being smogon either, but that's a discussion for another time

I did include another source after undoing your changes. Top.gg is the #1 discord bot list. The website is dedicated towards discord integrations and applications. The only way to get your application on there is if their independent reviewrs deem for it to be notable enough.
  • The wiki page is titled as "Pokémon competitive play" more than 50% of it is information about a third party, fan made and unofficial smiulator called smogon and pokemon showdown instead of the official pokemon games. Pokecord++ works very similar to pokemon showdown and if you're opposed to it being on there, you must remove information about both.
  • I am all in for proper capitalization, maybe thats the edit you should make next instead of removing the entire thing without proper research.
  • This is absolutely not a discussion for another time because thats something you ended up not removing as opposed to the information i added.

  • please seek consensus before reinstating the edit
  • a discord bot list is absolutely user-generated as defined by wikipedia. additionally, discord is not usable as a source unless the reader has an account
  • wanted to do that before removing it, but if properly discussed, it might not be kept, so it's probably a wasted effort
  • pokécord first, smogon later. additionally, there are some secondary sources about smogon, so i'm fine with keeping it. it's just most of the info being from smogon itself that bugs me
if you want, this can be taken to an3 for proper discussion cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:40, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You have made no discussions about this on the article's talk page to try to resolve the issue. All you've done is revert my changes to initiate an edit war while telling me to seek consensus while the edit was here before you showed up. I would like to request you to discuss before you carry on with reverts. Jerick120 (talk) 12:56, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ok, be there in a few minutes cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:58, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
