Haredi Judaism

[edit]

Greetings. Please make sure you add material that is relevant to the subject. Much of what you added is applicable to Orthodox Judaism as a whole. You are adding material which needs citation. I have never come across the idea that wigs are meant to make the Haredi woman less attractive. Where did you read this? Chesdovi (talk) 16:01, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Are you a native Israeli? I am. I come in contact and speak with Haredim every single day. I live in Ramat Gan, which is right next to Bnei Brak. Everything that I've written is extremely common knowledge in Israel, and the vast majority of the Israeli population could tell you these things about the Haredim - including the Haredim taking pride in those things themselves when asked. Over the next few days I shall add more references and improve the descriptions... All of those issues, by the way, are reported on the Israeli media on a weekly basis, and on Haredi media on a daily basis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonathan.bluestein (talkcontribs) 18:33, 24 July 2013‎ (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Why were young girls spat upon in Bet Shemesh? Chesdovi (talk) 13:21, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Because the modest clothing items they were wearing were not modest enough for some Haredi extremists in that city. That's even more extreme than usual, since these girls were Orthodox and had modest dress codes. Other (mature) women were attacked in that city, however, for similar reasons (wearing Secular clothing) or because of protesting the Haredim's action. I went there myself to protest after several such events. Quite a few parliament members were present at the time. We were also protesting school segregation of women and other issues relating to the Haredi takeover of that city. Jonathan.bluestein (talk) 16:49, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just goes to show how misinformed people like you (who claim to know it all) really are. Sure, the taunts were directed at "modesty" issues – but that was not the underlying reason for the protest! (Remember: esp. since the "girls were Orthodox and had modest dress codes..."). Dov Lipman MK (who I’m sure was at your protest): "This is not so much about how the girls dress, it's really not." They wanted to gain control of the school and land surrounding it for the benefit of their growing community, what you term a "haredi takeover" – (much like the secular Zionist takeover of the Haredi Yishuv in the 1920s). So let's stop the adding of reams of unbalanced text and references and start trying to adhere to basic policy guidelines. Chesdovi (talk) 17:27, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So you're basically going on with your Zionist conspiracy theories all over again, this time also defending Haredim who physically attacked and spat on little girls? That's low, even for you. Another irony is that I'm a native Israeli, whose mother tongue is Hebrew and have been to Beit Shemesh more than once, while you don't live in Israel, don't speak Hebrew, and have never been to Beit Shemesh... Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rony Kluger, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kobudo (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses, such as you did in the article Chen Zhonghua. Wikipedia is not the Yellow pages. If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you. I appreciate that these are links and references to your personal works rather than a business per-se, but editing multiple articles with the sole purpose of inserting links and references to your own work is not appropriate. Please do not continue this behavior. (And please see WP:COI) PanydThe muffin is not subtle 14:15, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you point out to any irrelevance of any of the links to their respective pages? They are all very relevant. I gather you have read none of these articles. If so, please explain what about them is irrelevant to the pages to which they had been inserted. Additionally, my articles bear no commercial links. They are not even posted on my own blog. You have deleted them solely on the assumption that they are 'inappropriate' without checking the facts - that in itself is inappropriate. Further, there is no relationship between the 'business promotion' claim and the deletion, and you yourself have admitted it. Moreover, in the case of the Chen Zhonghua page, this article was once linked to on the page, and was accidentally deleted over time when the content was modified and added to. I was the one who created the page to begin with (even though I am not a student of Mr. Chen). As for the book reference addition on the Xing Yi Quan page - I have not linked to my book's website, but merely added it under 'further reading'. Why? Because my book is very much relevant to this art as I am a practitioner and teacher of it, and much of it is dedicated to the discussion of the theory relating to the Internal Arts (Neijia) and Xing Yi. You again have not checked the facts. I doubt that you even know what Xing Yi Quan is. For me, all of the articles I have edited relate to my personal professional specialties.Jonathan.bluestein (talk) 22:59, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Another disputed history of Xing Yi

[edit]

Hi, this is Allheart8012, you recently deleted my sub section 'Another disputed history of Xing Yi', and I have added it back. Next time please inform people before deleting other's work, I don't know which masters you consulted with, but Li Bo is a well-known Xing Yi master in China and he is the descendant of Li Luoneng's family for sure. You can consult with master Yang Hai in Montreal to verify what I said, he is one of the masters in US who knows master Li Bo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Allheart8012 (talkcontribs) 21:27, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You appear new to this page on Wikipedia, so allow me to point out several things:

- Over the past few years, I have been the major, usually sole contributor to the XYQ page on Wikipedia. I have asked many others to aid in this on countless forums and facebook groups, but no one wanted the 'job'. I have been editing this page on my own mostly, therefore, though I always take care to consult with others before making serious edits.

- There is a main Xing Yi Quan discussion group on facebook, in which belong and write many serious Western and Chinese teachers of the art: https://www.facebook.com/groups/xingyi/?fref=ts . In this group are thousands of members, of which hundreds are active. Once every few months I create a discussion about the wikipedia page on that group, and we all talk about possible changes and discuss what needs to be done. When relative consensus is reached, I make the edit.

- In this manner, I have also created the famous lineage chart - the most comprehensive chart for the art ever made available publicly, and placed it for everyone to share on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xing_Yi_Quan#Lineage_chart . This chart has been continuously refined and updated based on feedback from the Xing Yi Quan community, most often by discussing the teachers and lineages which appear on it in the facebook group linked to above. My lineage appears on that chart as well. I am a student of master Zhou Jingxuan of Tianjin, and his top disciple, shifu Nitzan Oren.

- Your own edit was also thoroughly and seriously discussed on that Xing Yi Quan faceook group before I took action. You may read the full discussion here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/xingyi/permalink/10153851909341248/ . I only made an edit of my own after I received the support of many other Xing Yi teachers there. It seems people were also pleased with it after I made it.

- I respect and appreciate your contribution. You should have looked into the page thoroughly after I edited it, and ought to have examined the reasoning I took care to write for the edit I made. I have not deleted all of the information your contributed. Rather, as explained in the edit I made, I integrated much of what you have written into other relevant parts of the article. I have indeed deleted the rest given that it was meant to promote a certain teacher and lineage. Moreover, in my own edit (after yours) I added several references to support the text.

- All that being said - I have undone your last edit. You mistakenly thought that I deleted all you have added, and I have just explained this was not the case. I have even kept the picture you uploaded, alongside lots of other text (the Chinese names and characters, too). Content which was relevant to the page was integrated into different parts of it that were more relevant than being placed as a whole under 'another disputed history'. What seemed like promotional stuff for this or that lineage was deleted. Before making another edit, READ the actual page, check the text itself, and let me know if something is missing. We can surely work it out  :-)

- I have copied this discussion to the talk page for Xing Yi Quan article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Xing_Yi_Quan). Please reply there instead of here.

- By the way - it was you who originally made a huge edit to the page without first discussing it on either the talk page or on a major Xing Yi discussion group, and I merely replied by accommodating your contributions into the existing text. Had I wanted to delete your contribution, I would have simply undone the original edit, and I did not do that.

- You are also welcome to add me on facebook, and we can discuss it there: www.facebook.com/Bluestein

- I am happy you mentioned master Yang Hai from Montreal as someone who can make these matters clear. He happens to be my friend, and I speak with him often via facebook, email and skype. He also took part in the discussion I created concerning your edit (https://www.facebook.com/groups/xingyi/permalink/10153851909341248/). I am quite certain he supports the views I presented there.

Cheers,
