What makes something "English"

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your interest in English cuisine. However, a food (curry, say) is described as English because English people eat it in many places, and have done for centuries. It is nowhere asserted that English cuisine consists only of foods invented, grown, devised, and exclusively eaten in England, we'd be very hungry if that was the case. On the contrary, the article makes it abundantly clear that most English dishes derive at least in part from ingredients and recipes from other places; often they have been adapted as well as adopted, but that's another matter. I do hope this is clear, I'm happy to explain further, but the article should be the best explanation. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:41, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
