Finnish presidential election

[edit]

Sorry to have to revert your edit again, but I think you misunderstood my edit summary – I meant that the source the Finnish Wikipedia uses (i.e. Statistics Finland) also shows them as an independent. Please discuss on talk if you still disagree and have a source. Cheers, Number 57 13:53, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Statistics Finland has right information but acually the party behind Tiainen in 1994 elections was Communist Workers' Party. Here is an Helsingin Sanomat article about the news from 1992. http://www.hs.fi/kotimaa/art-2000003122956.html. It is in Finnish language. --Mannerheimo (talk) 15:22, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If Statistics Finland has the right information, why have you amended the results again? It's very disappointing to see you reinsert the information again despite several sources being clear this is not the case, and your source being from two years before the elections (for all we know, there could have been a falling out after that). Please gain consensus for your edits on the article's talk page before reinstating. Thanks, Number 57 15:36, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Talk page is blanko. I have put an sourch (web) on Tiainen which is there if you want to see it. --Mannerheimo (talk) 15:38, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Non-dropframe. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Monarchies in Europe without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Sourcing

[edit]

Thanks for adding detailed results to several referendum articles, but could you possibly source them? There is no reference for these figures for example. Cheers, Number 57 12:55, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I was absent for few hours so I am not always able to finish my editing. I try best to do it but some times it can have an problems. --Mannerheimo (talk) 13:51, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to be sourcing all the tables to the 1994 Finnish referendum. Could you make sure you change the url? Also, county, department etc should be lowercase rather than capitalised. Cheers, Number 57 21:24, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of Prime Ministers of Finland by time in office is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Prime Ministers of Finland by time in office until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. -KAP03(Talk • Contributions) 14:26, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from List of current monarchies to List of monarchies by continent (your addition has since been removed). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. If you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:19, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well some of the text was copied but it was then later modified to it own form. I have done just know some editing so the coping is not any more that clear. --Mannerheimo (talk) 14:35, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I'd like to point out the same for List of monarchs who have abdicated. You must at least mention the source article in an edit summary when copying or splitting articles. --Paul_012 (talk) 21:44, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please read the above-linked guideline Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. The issue isn't that content was copied; it's that you didn't provide attribution to the original article when doing so. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:42, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories, unfortunately the list United_Nations_list_of_Non-Self-Governing_Territories#Joined_another_state has false information about Netherlands New Guinea.

- There is no UN record of the UN endorsing any Indonesian claim of sovereignty to the colony.
- You should be aware that the pages at un.org are NOT authorised by the United Nations and are covered by their "Terms of Use" [1] that asserts "without any right to resell or redistribute them or to compile or create derivative works therefrom", "Materials provided on this Site are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind", "The United Nations specifically does not make any warranties or representations as to the accuracy or completeness of any such Materials", *** "The use of this Site is at the User’s sole risk. - The Dutch East Indies was acknowledge by the Netherlands as a non-self-governing territory (a territory the Netherlands was trustee for) in General Assembly resolution 66 by saying that it would be transmitting data about the region in accord with UN Charter article 73 (sacred trust).
- The UN General Assembly acknowledge West New Guinea was a non-self-governing territory (subject to article 73 sacred trust) in General Assembly resolution 448 (12 Dec 1950).
- The UN General Assembly agreed and approved an agreement for the United Nations to assume the sacred trust in accordance with Charter Chapter XII (UN Trusteeship) in General Assembly resolution 1752.
- The last United Nations document to mention West New Guinea is this document about the "Administrative History" https://archives.un.org/sites/archives.un.org/files/files/Finding%20Aids/2015_Finding_Aids/AG-059.pdf

Stub sorting

[edit]

Stubs are sorted and categorized by templates, not by manually including categories. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 16:26, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I have created the missing templates so I wish that you don't delete my editing. --Mannerheimo (talk) 17:16, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As @Koavf: said...please use the stub templates to categorize articles, not by manually including categories on the page. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:40, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It has been already done. --Mannerheimo (talk) 19:41, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What you've created is a category, not a template. The template is {{Malawi-politician-stub}}, and it already exists. That is what should be used on the article, not the category link. Please go here and read the relevant discussion about how to create a stub category. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:47, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okey you win. I quite. Addio--Mannerheimo (talk) 19:50, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Everyone is free to help create categories and templates for stub sorting--we're happy that you're here. But maybe you're just confused as to how stubs get sorted. You don't put [[Category:[X] stubs]] in the article, you should put {{X-type-stub}} at the bottom. Does that make sense? If you need help or if you're still unsure about how to proceed, please type {{Ping|Koavf}} or {{Ping|Ser Amantio di Nicolao}} and we can assist you--we have both been here for over a decade and have more than three million edits together. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 20:07, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have always tought that it is an clicee to call Wikipedia free encyclopedia. Some other Wikipedia's dosen't call them official free encyclopedia. Just Wikipedia. I have learned it from experiance that it is not free as free it should be even that the motto is free encyclopedia. I have learned to live with it. --Mannerheimo (talk) 20:11, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is "free" because it doesn't cost money and it's "free" because it promotes free culture--we believe in sharing and that others can contribute. This includes you. I think that you can add to Wikipedia but sometimes we make mistakes. It's not a problem, just try to learn and do better. I still make mistakes almost 15 years after I started here. Also, if you make a category in error, don't just blank it: you can redirect it to the correct place or if you think it should be deleted, put a deletion tag on it, like {{db-author}}. Again, please let me know if you need assistance. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 20:20, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The Philosophy behind Wikipedia is also that every one can edit it freely. The free encyclopedia doesn't mean that the information is available if one pays for it. I didn't make any mistakes here.. My editing was not good to some Users and they decided to repeal it. As easy it is. Go to history find an user name . repeal edit. Select edit. Save edit. Yes perfect done. There is no fundamental why to correct errors in Wikipedia . redirect is not only solution. Users should have right to use creativeness. Yes I make errors but if I see problem I also fix it. The way how to fix it is not the fundamental issue here. No is not. Blind deletion is. contribute is total joke. Yes some edits are suitable because there is an consensus over it. --Mannerheimo (talk) 20:31, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you are mistaken--what makes Wikipedia free is that it's free culture, not that it's a free-for-all. You did make some mistakes in the way you edited and I hope we can move forward from here. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 20:42, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There is not such issue called free culture. It is just an slogan. Like in the late 1960s hippie years In San Francisco. In was wave which lasted few years. Wikipedia started as free encyclopedia but it has bureaucratized it self as it has expended in several language versions. Concept is the same but inside in Wikipedia the bureaucracy has taken over. Lets face it. I will continue in Wikipedia but the old Wikipedia is not there any more . Jimmy Wales's great idea of wiki and free has been taken over by bureaucracy. --Mannerheimo (talk) 09:36, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of List of Foreign-born spouses of Head of State and Government

[edit]

Hello Mannerheimo,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of Foreign-born spouses of Head of State and Government for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hello, Mannerheimo. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, List of airlines which do not serve alcoholic beverages on flights, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Sorry but most of your new additions, as well as some extant content, had to be removed since it was copied from http://gulfwar1991.blogspot.ca/2010/11/persian-gulf-war-timeline.html. Please stop adding copyright material immediately, or you risk being blocked from editing for copyright violations. — Diannaa (talk) 14:40, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Diannaa: (Sorry if it seems I'm butting in here, I am waiting for a response from Mannerheimo myself and saw your post)
Actually, it looks like that website is a copy of Wikipedia, and is in violation of Wikipedia's Copyrights (by not attributing, and or sharing alike), and Mannerheim's recent merge from Timeline of the Gulf War (which didn't properly state where the content was being merged from either) may have looked like a copyvio for that reason. This diff is before the content was posted on http://gulfwar1991.blogspot.ca/2010/11/persian-gulf-war-timeline.html, and shows that gulfwar1991 has the exact same copy. I cannot speak for older problems. (Again, sorry to seem like I'm butting in) menaechmi (talk) 15:04, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct - the content was moved to Timeline of Gulf War (1990–1991) from Timeline of the Gulf War. Mannerheimo, did you know that when copying or moving content from one Wikipedia article to another, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s)? When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. I have now restored your recent addition and supplied the attribution this article, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Edits from my July 26 removal were copied from the BBC website, and therefore have to stay out or be re-written. — Diannaa (talk) 18:36, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Mannerheimo!

I saw that you noticed my proposed merge, and took it upon yourself to do it! That's fantastic, and I really appreciate that someone participated in the process. Unfortunately I was proposing the merge go in the other direction, because according to our titling standards Timeline of the Gulf War is a better title than Timeline of Gulf War (1990-1991).

If you can agree to that, I will order a speedy G6 deletion of Timeline of the Gulf War, and move your page Timeline of Gulf War (1990-1991) to that space (because you already merged all of the content it should go uncontested). Otherwise, I will have to revert your move and discussion will continue at Talk:Timeline of the Gulf War. Thank you, menaechmi (talk) 14:07, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Jäniskoski-Niskakoski territory, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:51, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I feels that the article meets currently Wikipedia's general notability guideline this draft move was just idea to stop me editing articles in Wikipedia. I will now move the article back to mainspace. Thank you very much.--Mannerheimo (talk) 11:16, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Eva-Christina Mäkeläinen has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. reddogsix (talk) 15:02, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mannerheimo. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Ralf Friberg, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Ralf Friberg to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks,

Heikki Leppo moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Heikki Leppo, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:18, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me to understand what you think is gained by adding unsourced content to Wikipedia? Unless you add sources the material is not verifiable and is liable to immediate removal. Would you kindly stop dong this? Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:23, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have add the sources to the article. This wikipedia is free encyclopedia. I have been an User here for many years. I have all the right to edit Wikipedia. Thank you . . Would you kindly moving my articles to draft mode? --Mannerheimo (talk) 18:26, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, of course you have the right to edit; but that doesn't give you the right to add unreferenced content. Nor does it give you the right to translate without attribution from fi.wp. Heikki Leppo is translated more or less verbatim from fi:Heikki Leppo, but you have provided no attribution. Please add a {{translated page}} template to Talk:Heikki Leppo in order to acknowledge the work of the editors who created the Finnish page. I see that you've already been asked more than once on this page to provide attribution when translating. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:11, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Yes of course you have the right to edit" but but...This mantra I have heard too many times here. There are several articles in Wikipedia translated from other Wikipedia. Not only my articles.I think that is you actions againts my articles were just wikiterrozism because I don't have any rationalize explenations in our actions againts my articles. Wikipedia is not as free as it was. This free is just half truth. Thank you. --Mannerheimo (talk) 19:28, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for adding the translated page template to Talk:Heikki Leppo. However, it needs to be completed each time. I've done that one to show you how. The syntax is something like
{{translated page| fi | Heikki Leppo|version= 16421835 (on fi.wp)|insertversion= 796272445 (on en.wp)}}
Please add one to each and every page where you have translated from Finnish Wikipedia – this is required under the terms of our licence, part of what makes this the free encyclopaedia. Ping me if anything is not clear. Oh, and please do not add any more unreferenced articles to the encyclopedia – we already have more problematic content than we can cope with, and adding to that is not helpful to the project. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:24, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You can't stop me creating articles into Wikipedia. That is the fundamental idea of Wikipedia. Yes I agree with you that translated articles should have the translating markings on it but I will not except blackmailing. It is not my problem if Wikipedia has "too much articles" (sic). It is the dilemma of Wikipedia that as it says it is free encyclopedia (wiki) but it is not in reality free because it has problems. The problem in specially with big languages Wikipedia's like English, French, German and Spanish. I have every dam right to create articles, move articles, rewrite them other wise the slogan free encyclopedia is just an sheep slogan like Make America Great Again. Thank you very much--Mannerheimo (talk) 09:17, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WARNING

[edit]

Mannerheimo, it is extremely poor to have ignored the many messages I've sent you and not WP:ENGAGE. You have left many articles with no references, despite reminders - are you assuming other people should just clean them up? The WP:BURDEN is yours. If you are not happy to source them, please don't write them. Boleyn (talk) 17:45, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You don't have any right to warning me. All my articles will be reviewed by many users but not by one user. I am sourcing them. Just look at them carefully. Boleyn you have been nasty to my before. So why you are dictating which articles I should create? This is an free encyclopedia. All the users have right to edit and create articles if this is not clear to you I think you should really study the Philosophy| of Wikipedia. Boleyn I am really getting angry on your behavior. You don't have any right to stop me. --Mannerheimo (talk) 17:51, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nevertheless, Boleyn is right – as an editor here you are expected to take notice of what other editors say (particularly when they are all telling you the same thing). You have the right to edit here, and to create articles, but only if what you do is in accordance with Wikipedia policy. A core policy of this project is WP:verifiability. If you persist in writing content that is not verifiable (because it is without any references whatsoever), you can confidently expect that – sooner or later – someone will want to limit your contributions.
You have the right , You have the right but but but. I have heard this nonsens to many times from several users. I have all the right as user to edit Wikipedia. Yes I am trying to add references but some times there is no references. I can't help it. --Mannerheimo (talk) 19:22, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Apropos of policy, would you please 'make sure that you provide attribution for any article you have translated from another wikipedia? Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:18, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Accually WP:V rules are only concerns to No original research and Neutral point of view which I don't have issue with because I am not doing No original researc or editing on non-Neutral point of view. So I don't really understand the issue of User Boleyn and Justlettersandnumbers. All my editing are based on facts. --Mannerheimo (talk) 19:36, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If you can't verify it, you don't know it's a fact. I've previously directed you to WP:BURDEN - if you add information, it is your responsibility to add a supporting source. If you continue to ignore this, WP:ANI is an option. As you say above, you have heard this message 'many times from several users'. Stop adding unverified information to Wikipedia. Boleyn (talk) 19:57, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I will not expect blackmailing that other users will threaten me on WP:ANI. But yes you are absolutely right that responsibility for providing citations is totally in my responsibility . No issue with that. But I can't help it if there is not sources available expect those which I find as sources. I will always verify my editing but you can't just your self decide what is unverified information. Let me make that very clear. --Mannerheimo (talk) 20:10, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your level of understanding is very poor. I am not deciding myself what is unverified information - I am talking about you creating articles with no sources whatsoever - that is clearly unverified information - you haven't verified it! See [2] when you first created it - no references at all. Thanks for adding references to your more recent creations, although you have been tagging them as unreferenced by adding {references} when you mean {reflist}. If you glance over the article after you've created it, you should be able to avoid that. Boleyn (talk) 09:50, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
My editing way (which is not againts any policy of Wikipedia) is first article, thent references and then categories and then links . I normaly use the visual editing because it is easier for me --Mannerheimo (talk) 10:01, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mannerheimo, on this one day (1st September), you received five messages about poor article creation. Five. There is an issue. Please develop articles properly in draftspace and move them to mainspace when they are ready. Boleyn (talk) 18:10, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have looked carefully through Mannerheimo's biographies of Finnish diplomats created over the past month. All I can say is that he has made a tremendous contribution to the encyclopaedia. In most cases, the articles contain adequate references, often based on the Finnish versions of the articles. There are still a handful of unreferenced articles but these are all linked to the Finnish wiki. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort. Instead of just trying to find fault, editors such as Boleyn could try to assist a non-native English speaker in improving the quality of the articles rather than trying to upset him. I have also seen that as time goes by, other editors (myself included) are indeed happy to come in and fill the gaps. I hope you realize that Mannerheimo has created almost 100 articles on Finnish diplomats over the past month. A wonderful achievement.--Ipigott (talk) 13:53, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ensio Hiitonen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Page is not written in English

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 24.91.248.60 (talk) 16:09, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I will complate it in the same day not leaving anything between--Mannerheimo (talk) 17:19, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Mannerheimo, people will add tags in these circumstances, it may be less frustrating to create articles fully in draftspace (e.g. Draft:Eero A. Wuori. Pikkuvinkkinä että kannattaa lisätä henkilöartikkeleihin aakkostusmalline muodossa {{DEFAULTSORT:Sukunimi, Etunimi}} artikkelin luokkien yläpuolelle, jotta henkilöartikkelit aakkostuisivat luokissa sukunimen mukaan eikä etunimen. Nyt monet aloittamasi henkilöartikkelit aakkostuvat luokissa etunimien mukaan. Esimerkiksi luokassa Ambassadors of Finland to Sweden artikkelit aakkostuvat vähän miten sattuu, sillä osassa artikkeleista on aakkostusmalline ja osassa ei. 88.113.105.109 (talk) 20:08, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Sigurd von Numers

[edit]

Hello Mannerheimo,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Sigurd von Numers for deletion, because it's not written in English. To request a translation, please visit the translation page. If you'd like to contribute to another Wikipedia, take a look at our full list of language projects.

If you feel that I made a mistake, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

All the people listed below are women so it's a bit weird to use the masculine pronoun 'he' instead of 'she'. I noticed this is a repetitive mistake you make with your (machine?) translations, so just wanted to point it out.

Er, no, Mannerheimo, it is you, not Google, who is adding large quantities of badly-translated material to this project. Editor consensus here is that "an unedited machine translation, left as a Wikipedia article, is worse than nothing". Please correct the English in the articles you have written, rather than leaving that work for others to do for you. Thank you for adding at least some sources to your more recent creations. The things you learn on Wikipedia - I can understand Finnish!

[edit]

Hi, Mannerheimo,
I was just reading Kirsti Narinen and looking for ways to improve it. A google search, and one of the first results was a page that said "Kirsti Narinen on suomalainen diplomaatti". Wow - despite the fact that English and Finnish are unrelated languages, and I've never studied Finnish - I saw a sentence in Finnish and knew straight away what it meant! (Of course it helped that "diplomaatti" is obviously a loan word, I already knew what suom- meant, and I had just learned who Kirsti Narinen was.)
Seriously though - puts WP:ADMIN hat on - you really do need to listen to the advice that people are giving you. It's quite obvious that Kirsti Narinen is a machine translation of the Finnish language Wikipedia. And inter-wiki translations do need attribution. I'll see if I can use Ms Narinen's article to give you some practical guidance.
Peter in Australia aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:16, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

All my articles are translated by me with the help by the google translator. Google translator is not perfect speally in Finnish language becauce it is not an Indo-European. I see that you understand Finnish but in my case Finnish is my mother tongue so I can say that I am fluent in Finnish but you are not. Some Users are making life difficult on my work but users like User:Ipigott has reconized by achievements so I do have also the support here by Users. The actions by some users are just their opinions because it is not mentioned in any Wikipedia rules that any translating programmes are banned in Wikipedia. I do translate by the help from Google Translator but I also editih my own personal translations like errors, words or sentences because the Google translators job is not perfect. I hope that this will help you to understant the issues of these articles. All the sourches are there only the translation is my (by help from Google Translator). --Mannerheimo (talk) 10:25, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I will also add that Administrative and professional titles are words like; varatuomari, valiokuntaneuvos, osastopäällikkö, taloushallinnonpäällikkö etc need to by translated by the help of google translator. These administrative words aren't possible to translate freely from Finnish to English. One need the right spelling and Google translator suites to be helpfull in the translation of these kinds of administrative words. Thanks for understanding. --Mannerheimo (talk) 10:54, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Er, no, Mannerheimo, those difficult words need to be translated by a competent editor with dual fluency in the two languages, or by reference to a reputable major dictionary – they are exactly the kind of thing that Google is completely useless for, particularly with a famously "difficult" language such as yours. I have no idea whether someone like Pitke has any interest in diplomats and might be prepared to advise (but hi anyway, Pitke!). If you are not able to make an adequate translation yourself, it might be preferable to create a short stub (say, "Kirsti Narinen is a Finnish diplomat. She has been the Finnish ambassador to Estonia since September 1, 2014.") with a sufficient number of references to guarantee notability, and then add an {{expand Finnish}} template to it so that someone with the necessary skills can, sooner or later, fill it out. That would create a lot less work for other editors than what you are doing at the moment. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:00, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Er, no, Justlettersandnumbers, You didn't undertandt totaly my point of useing google translator. I use it because it helps me to translate some words to English which don't have English meaning like the words varatuomari which is very Finnish word, Varatuomari has been translated literaly as 'vice-judge' but it's better version is Master in Law with court training or shorter version Master in Law. Now these kinds of titles Google translator is not the best but in Finnish words which has 'neuvos' can be translated by Google translator as Counselor or words like Lähettiläs is Envoy but some times it is translated as Ambassador which is in Finnish suurlähettiläs. So you see the idea of Finnish language it dosen't have the Indo-European patient. So only google translator or other translating programmes will help me with these kind of difficult words. Major dictionary will not help me because it can translate (not always) the words like varatuomari to version of vice-judge which is not the right best translation of the title varatuomari. In Finnish language we have some legal and administrative words which can be translated literaly and thoso words which can't be translated literaly because they will mean someting else like the title of Vuorineuvos which is translated literaly as mining counselor which google translator translates it into version President and CEO which is wrong translation because President is in Finnish Presidentti and CEO is toimitusjohtaja. So what is vuorineuvos in English? Well En:Wikipedia has seprate article Vuorineuvos which only is dedicaded to this word. That's why improvisation is some times nesseccary in Finnish-English translations. I use google translator as tool not as platform. --Mannerheimo (talk) 17:40, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is, you should not be relying on Google Translate at all for Finnish-to-English translation, especially as an ESL speaker of lower than top level. You also should not ever rely on Google Translate for terms of art such as the various legal and diplomatic titles that have been mentioned. GT can barely handle simple structures in formally correct Finnish (kirjakieli) reliably, and anything to do with free word order, colloquial Finnish, or complex sentence structures or obscure grammar is just an utter mess. Be aware of the Dunning-Kruger effect. It's honestly just better to translate by your own, since any mistakes you might make would, to a degree, be possible to reverse-engineer by a Finnish speaker thanks to the logic behind Finnish grammar and the formulaic mistakes it tends to contribute into. Machine translation does not follow a natural human logic, but whatever logic its machine learning has cobbled together from the scores and scores of data it has 'studied'. --Pitke (talk) 17:01, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Carribbean religion and belief templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The article Arne Hartman has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article has been written in foreign language.

The article Teppo Takala has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references.
