DYK for R. Hari Kumar[edit]

On 1 March 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article R. Hari Kumar, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that R. Hari Kumar took a staff course at the US Naval War College while serving in the Indian Navy? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/R. Hari Kumar. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, R. Hari Kumar), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. WikiConference India 2020: IRC today[edit]

Greetings, thanks for taking part in the initial conversation around the proposal for WikiConference India 2020 in Hyderabad. Firstly, we are happy to share the news that there has been a very good positive response from individual Wikimedians. Also there have been community-wide discussions on local Village Pumps on various languages. Several of these discussions have reached consensus, and supported the initiative. To conclude this initial conversation and formalise the consensus, an IRC is being hosted today evening. We can clear any concerns/doubts that we have during the IRC. Looking forward to your participation.

Your AfD comment[edit]

No, Your reply isn't helping at all. It seems to me that you are missing the entire point of the . AfD. How will the judgement or not having it affect an article ? What makes you think that people will not be looking t read this article ? you should answer these questions when you reply there. currently the reply isn't addressing these questions. I hope you do understand that it takes 10-15 years to get judgement. I am not sure if you know this or not but Articles that are moved to Draft can only stay upto 6 months after that they are automatically deleted, if no update. There has to be a policy based reason behind whatever point you are making there. I would also suggest you to read Wikipedia:Introduction_to_deletion_process and WP:PRESERVE. Since I feel that you are not very familiar with our deletion process and how it works. I decided to make this comment here and not at AfD since it is a general comment to help you familarize with the AfD process and posting it there on AfD will start an unwanted side discussion that will be offtopic. If you have any further questions, please do ping me and ask here and I will be glad to help. --DBigXray 15:49, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DBigXray:Hello! Thanks for pointing out those things. I should have generalized and said rule/law along with judgment. I felt that this article is very important to be on the mainspace and any reader who is going through a series of such articles should watch it. Since it got nominated for deletion with no proper reason and purpose, I suggested to move the article to draft in order to preserve it. I know that there will be a very huge delay in the judgment, but I guess that some action or law can come out as a quick response because there are many agitations happening in either of the Telugu states. Recently Andhra Pradesh DGP has implemented "zero FIR" rule because the family of rape victim alleged that the police delayed the filing of FIR over jurisdiction issues. Similarly, there are few other rules which are being implemented in other states for the safety of women. I would like to thank you for supporting the article to be on mainspace. I will ping you, in case of doubts/suggestions. Thank you! --Nivas10798 (talk) 16:32, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Since it got nominated for deletion with no proper reason and purpose," If you feel that the nomination was inappropriate, the right thing to do would be to vote keep stating the same. Draftifying is only done when there are reasons to do so. see WP:ATD-I."I guess that some action or law can come out as a quick response" Do you really believe a law may come out within 6 months ? I wont be so sure, considering how slow the parliament works. Indeed You are right, the article needs to be expanded about the Zero FIR. Telangana was not folowing it while the rest of the country was following it. Please do mention this in the article by adding a reliable source and also in your comments on the AfD. It would be good to clarify on the AfD page and on teh article that this rape case brought some changes in the policy, Zero FIR is one such change, thanks for mentioning it. Cheers. --DBigXray 16:45, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DBigXray: That was a wonderful suggestion. Will definitely add a subsection in the Aftermath section regarding "zero FIR" and ping you. Hope this subsection can make the article attain more encyclopediac value. Hurray! Thanks for great suggestion :) . --Nivas10798 (talk) 18:18, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New message from DBigXray[edit]

Hello, Nivas10798. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2019 Hyderabad gang rape.
Message added 12:58, 6 December 2019 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

DBigXray 12:58, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DBigXray: I guess you can understand the difference between 'Draftify' and 'Delete'. Kindly check the page, I suggested to draftify and not delete. I am one among those who wanted this article to be in the mainspace because I felt that this is really a very important issue which should be know to the world. Nivas10798 (talk) 16:49, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please confirm if you have read WP:ATD-I ? You keep on repeating the same thing, but you fail to understand that the reasons for your vote and the vote dont agree with each other. --DBigXray 18:07, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DBigXray: Yes, I have gone through WP:ATD-I. I explained you that I should have generalised and said law/rule along with judgment. I also added that there are many laws being implemented in many states of India which will support the article to be of high encyclopediac value, which means in no time the artcile cane be moved from draft to mainsapce. Do you agree to this point of mine?
Yes, I agree. But you have to understand that WP:AFD is not a discussion to find out if the article is of high encyclopedic value or basic ____. AFD is to judge if it is encyclopedic or not. You seem to have agreed that it is encyclopedic, and yet you were voting to draftify, that is what was creating confusion and DTM asked you for a clarification. You see, if an article is considered encyclopedic, it can remain on the mainspace even if it is a one line article called WP:STUB. There is no requirement that one has to wait for a topic to become a high importance or high quality before it can stay on the mainspace. see WP:WIP--DBigXray 18:50, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DBigXray: Ok, I got it. Thanks -Nivas10798 (talk) 02:00, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that this will not directly influence the specificities of the program, there will be a detailed survey to assess the program needs post-funding decision.
