Ontario Justice Education Network[edit]

Hi Hairhorn, i am trying to build my contribution, there is one issues i have been looking into and that is the name of my contribution "Ontario Justice Education Network". I would like it to be visible when searched under its acronym "OJEN". Is there a tag that applies to this, i have been searching and reading through those listed in wiki, but haven't seen it if it is there. If this is not the way to accomplish this then how can i get it to show up under "OJEN" your help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance b.c

A tag has been placed on The Ontario Justice Education Network (OJEN) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hairhorn (talk) 04:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OJEN[edit]

Hi... you've been trying to reach me, but your messages were either in the wrong spot or very well hidden on my talk page. The easiest thing to do is to create the page OJEN, and redirect it to your main article. Cheers. Hairhorn (talk) 14:53, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest and spamming[edit]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article OJEN, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:46, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia's policies. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information.

You need to actually put in your new username and reason in the template. Q T C 01:21, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock-spamun|SuperCho|I am a volunteer with the organization that the article is about. I am currently enrolled in university and have been gaining experience by helping non-profits with visions and objectives I believe in. OJEN is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that seeks to educate newcomer, aboriginal, at-risk youth, youth in general, teachers, and community based organizations on the justice system. OJEN’s focus is on youth and youth primarily use the web as a research tool. The article does not seek to be a promotion or to publicize the organization but rather to act as reference, providing background information and facts to those seeking such information. The article is currently undergoing construction, it is in need of vast editing and more sources need to be retrieved. A tag was placed in the article for perspective contributors to help in its construction process. I know Wiki policies ask for a neutral point of view, which I am doing and hope to continue if given the chance. Although I read the policies (there’s a lot of information to keep track of), I did not know the use of the user name Ojen1 would pose a problem, I just used it because it would be easy for me to remember given the fact l deal with a lot of programs, emails etc that require passwords and user names of their own. I’ve been chatting with people on Wiki help chat and messaged Hairhorn a couple times for help in developing this article as I am a newbie in the Wiki process. I hope that I can continue with this project, if you have any suggestions for me please feel free to share them.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to SuperCho (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Also note that, even though you're just a volunteer with this organization, you still have a conflict of interest with the subject in which you're trying to edit, and that can present major problems as far as maintaining a neutral point of view—our largest core policy on Wikipedia—is concerned. Also keep in mind that Wikipedia is not your own web host service, and that what is in the article currently would normally be something a person would expect to see on OJEN's website. Finally, for-profit or non-profit, it still reads like it's promoting something, and a major rewrite will be needed to make the article into a neutral, encyclopedic tone that is acceptable here.
