Last Belfast reversion

Just to let you know, that last revert you made I'm not sure actually was a good faith contribution. I might be wrong, but the IP's contribution (mi piace la patata) means I like potatoes in Italian (or sonething!)... I couldn't see how relevant that was (!!!) so would call it vandalism myself. Just advising, in case the IP comes back again. PS nice page! Basket Feudalist 15:28, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you !

Hello Pratya ! Thank you for your feedback and decline on the article for creation Corner tube boiler. I accept that there is already an article existing on wikipedia with the same name. But if you can please answer some of my queries, I would be really grateful. The article Corner tube Boiler was submitted as a stub on 14th March 2013 and there after as I wanted to add more material and details I kept on working it in my sandbox and later created a page with the name corner tube boilers ( with more third party reliable resources and pictures). So the existing article still remains unreviewed or it is accepted already ? Please guide me in this particular situation so that I may not repeat it again and I would like to be be a Wiki contributor for further future as well right now as a beginner I am anxious and motivated to edit the existing ones and submit articles with time. Thank you in advance Ghorpaapi (talk) 14:41, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

You are a Bengali? Now answering your question. If your question is the existing article is still unreviewed, then the answer is the existing article is on the article space. So it is accepted. But in addition I need to say the article space article don't need to be accepted. They will be there when you create. Also the WP:AFC accepted articles stays at article space. It means only WP:AFC articles need to be reviewed. Also new created articles need to reviewed. But the New Pages Patrolers review them. If your article is not okay they add tags like {{unreferenced}}. And if it's very much bad and it falls under the WP:CSD then they ask for WP:CSD. Hope it helps you. And if you need any feel free to ask.--Pratyya (Hello!) 15:02, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Hello Pratya ! No I am not a Bengali. Thanks a lot for the details explaination . I understood the whole situation quite clearly now but still out of curiosity I would ask you another question. This is related to reviewing of the article. So when an article is created ( with all the references, lead sections and already categorised) still must it be submitted for reviewing or directly could be created for article space ? . Thank you for the time and energy and guidance.

Ghorpaapi (talk) 09:49, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

No you see the directly created articles don't need to be submitted for review. But they goes at New pages and New pages feed. If they wouldn't go there how the new page patroler find them!!! But if you are an admin or autopatrolled then your created articles won't go to the lists. They'll reviewed automatically. Any question?--Pratyya (Hello!) 12:57, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Thank you Pratyya . It was of real help. :) Ghorpaapi (talk) 08:33, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Ceramic hill at Netrokona.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Article Wizard for newbies

Hi Pratyya. Sorry it's taken me a while to reply to your question here. Basically, there are some issue that tend to arise when new editors go stright to article space and start creating their page from scratch. Usually, they make errors (commonly regarding markup, notability and tone) which result in NPPs slapping tags all over the new article, and very often nominating it (correctly and successfully) for deletion. That means we end up with a) extra work for NPPs and admins and b) disheartened new contributors.
The advantage of using the Article Wizard is twofold: firstly, it guides the new editor through what's required of an article (so that they know about the need for sourcing and NPOV, and get instructions on layout and markup) and secondly, it has the option to drop the page into AFC rather than directly into article space, meaning that new users can get reviews and feedback before their work is exposed to the merciless gaze of the community. As a result, Wikipedia gets a better new article, and new contributors get an easier ride. Everyone's a winner! Yunshui  09:39, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Orphan Black

Hello there,

You just undid my change to the intro of "Orphan Black"'s page.

I made this change to remove a pretty big spoiler.

I visited the site yesterday to see when the new episode would be released. One of the first things I saw was that the main character was one of a series of clones. This information was not revealed until the end of the episode I had logged on to verify, and as such was a huge spoiler.

I altered this page so instead of reading "one of a series of clones" it would in future say "has several mysterious doppelgangers", which I believe conveys the same information but without the massive spoiler.

It would be in the interests of the viewing public if you changed this back. The change was made for good reason, in good faith, and does not constitute vandalism or profanity.

Kind regards,

The Editor — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.29.15.2 (talk) 13:40, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Maxim Kontsevich page

Hey Pratyya,

Checking in to see what's wrong with adding a link to the workplace of Maxim? That page only exists in Russian, so I chose not to make the English name clickable but add Russian link in the parents. By reversing it you deny the visitors direct transition to the workplace page, how is this constructive?

Thank you for trying to keep Wikipedia free of vandalism. However, one or more edits you labeled as vandalism, such as the edit at Woolsthorpe-by-Colsterworth, are not considered vandalism under Wikipedia policy. Wikipedia has a stricter definition of the word "vandalism" than common usage, and mislabeling edits as vandalism can discourage newer editors. Please read Wikipedia:NOTVAND for more information on what is and is not considered vandalism. Thank you. Psychonaut (talk) 10:08, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Liverpool Girls High School.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Liverpool Girls High School.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 14:17, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Issue VI - April 2013

Open Help Conference

The Open Help Conference will be taking place June 15-19 in Cincinnati Ohio, USA. The conference includes two days of presentations and open discussions, followed by team "sprints" - collaborative efforts to write and improve documentation.

It has been suggested to send a team from Wikipedia/Wikimedia: to share our own knowledge about help, learn from others in the open source community working on similar problems, and to carry out a sprint to improve some aspect of Wikipedia's help.

There may be support available for volunteers to attend from the Participation Support program (and your editor is certainly hoping to be there!) Please join the discussion in Meta's IdeaLab if you're interested, and/or have suggestions about what we could work on.

Other news

If you don't wish to receive this newsletter on your talk page in future then just edit the participants page and add "no newsletter" next to your name.

Suggestions for future issues are welcome at Wikipedia:Help Project/Newsletter.

SuggestBot beta test

Hi, and thanks for volunteering to test the new SuggestBot interface! You can find your suggestions and the survey on this page. Thanks again! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 17:39, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi, from Italy

Hi Pratyya Ghosh, how are you? I'm Italian friend of Lodewijk Vadacchino and he told me I can write to you to ask to make a page in your Language. May I?

It will be just a little more than a stub only. I can pay my request with a translation of the same size from EN to IT, FR, PT or LMO.

Thank you very much to answer, have a nice week end

Rex Momo (talk) 11:26, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

P.S.: Usually I don't write in this Wikipedia, you'll find me easier in my italian page.

What's the name of your article?--Pratyya (Hello!) 06:32, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
