At least its got tables and things - some user pages with about four words or less freak me more than empty talk pages ! SatuSuro 15:01, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately life has run amuck this week, thinks one should have retained the busy notice a while longer,, Gnangarra 14:32, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goosing Wildly[edit]

Thanks for your kind words regarding my The Wild Goose article, I wasn`t sure if it would be speedy deleted as not notable, your encouragement is very welcome. I will continue to plod away with convictism in all its forms. Ghostieguide 15:12, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Poison plants[edit]

Nope. Not a thing. Except for passing comments at Poison Rocks and James Drummond (botanist). Hesperian 03:25, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And re: Americas Cup, yes, it is surprising. There was such a fuss at the time, and it is still considered by some to be the state's greatest sporting achievement. Hesperian 03:32, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the barnstar! :)[edit]

Much appreciated. (For future reference - how does one give them out?) Orderinchaos78 (t|c) 03:50, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Java dab games?[edit]

In those immortal words "Please explain?" Gnangarra 12:55, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

so that explains the preemptive rumblings from the hills all afternoon, it was you preparing a response. Anyhow did you look at the contribs of the person proposing the move for someone with such an extensive edit history, yet knowledgable enough to create in such a short time span I'd be looking in the closet for a dejected/rejected party member. Gnangarra 14:23, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
done as suggest request at WP:RFI, Gnangarra 15:22, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is Bali the next battle? ;-) --Merbabu 04:18, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Na its a worthy dispute, Java is notiable. Gnangarra 13:30, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You actually put it down in between..;-) Gnangarra 13:39, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the Java article is of a fairly lousy quality relative to Java's notability. It could be a fine piece. Perhaps editors have been reluctant to lengthen it as most information can be found in more detailed articles, however, I don't believe that readers should have to ferret around on other linked pages unless the "summary" page is too long. Some of those sections are just list of links, and others not much more. FOr example, why not discuss the Javanese and the Sundanese, rather than just link to them. Discuss, how Islam tends to be more orthodox in Sunda whereas in "Jawa" it is fused with more superstitious beliefs. And much more. --Merbabu 14:06, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Long Time No speak[edit]

Hmm... I'll take a look. Generally I defer to what is already used on the page as the primary measurement units; if it's not entirely clear which should come first, I'll take a look at the resource material that I can get to to see which measurements are used there and follow that for the preference. If most of the measurements are in metric, I'll switch those that aren't around to make them consistent. When it's come up on WP:TWP, it usually follows this guideline. Most of the pages that I've worked on lately cover topics where imperial units are listed first. Slambo (Speak) 14:59, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Montebello Islands[edit]

I tablified it. Revert it if you don't like. — Moondyne 07:29, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. the first one is a bit odd, but the other seems mostly harmless. — Moondyne 14:41, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm caught up in a Somebody Else's Problem field (temporary, of course). So I'm off to bed! — Moondyne 14:49, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rail gauges[edit]

In articles I tend to use both the imperial and metric gauges within articles for railways that were built in imperial gauges, and just metric for straight metric. Mind you I'm not sure what should be done about those railways that were built to a Swedish or Prussian foot gauge (and there were a few)!

But I think you are referring to catagories. Catagory:narrow gauge was getting large, and another user broke them up into imperial gauges. I think he was a Brit - don't think I would have done it quite like that, but there you go. --Michael Johnson 12:49, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info![edit]

Yeah the lack of info about that locality is a bit puzzling! Thanks for the ref - I'll be at the Battye tomorrow so I might check that one out. And nice to see someone's checking up on my work :D Orderinchaos78 (t|c) 15:10, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I know! CALM's own site is pretty ambiguous about the park as it is now. I live in the leafy (!?) northern suburbs so I don't get to see much of that side of town. Was just looking up Ensign Dale for the Beverley article and hit that one and Mount Dale, and made minor fixes to both. :) Oh and re prev message (thought I had replied!) - no offence was taken, although I wasn't entirely sure what you meant at first! hehe have a good one. I.E.[edit]

Thanks for the heads up. There's no rush. Hesperian 05:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oz Lit[edit]

re your suggestions about Australian literature, i've tagged it for splitting, one day i'll check the source...

Krakatoa[edit]

Yes, and hundreds other. BTW, how are you? — Indon (reply) — 14:53, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have a secret. Somebody created this list: List_of_Indonesia-related_topics. Go to this page, and click Related changes in the toolbox. — Indon (reply) — 15:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Java collaboration[edit]

Hi JarrahTree/Archive 20! Starting today, the Indonesia Collaboration is Java. Come along and help make this an article worthy of the world’s greatest island. There’s a suggested to-do list on the the talk page to which you can add, or just pick a task. All sorts of tasks are required, Images, Citations, Research, Copy Edit; you name it, it needs to be done – this important article needs your help!! Regards -- Imoeng 08:45, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I am glad to see you back! Meursault2004 16:47, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

G'day SatuSuro. Check out my new map of Vic Park's location, see what you think. I've done one for each inner suburb, outer 'burbs are on the way.

& I see what you mean about the Town of Kalgoorlie  :> Gordon | Talk, 31 October 2006 @13:02 UTC

News[edit]

Thanks for your note. The policy (that an admin had asked) for the news is to synchronize with Portal:Current_events/Southeast_Asia. So every news in portal Indonesia should have exactly the same item there. If you have time, you can add also in the SE Asia current events portal. After that, copy paste into Indonesia portal. Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 13:31, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anon editor - this time on Prabowo[edit]

When you say "again" are you refering to that anon. editor who adds large slabs of completely unreferenced material? he operates under 4 or 5 very similar IPs. 210.210.145.9 - 210.210.145.6, 210.210.145.7 - 210.210.145.8 - 210.210.145.10 - 210.210.145.11 - maybe others. It drives me nuts. It's been a small ongoing battle between him and myself. In my "old" wiki age i am now becoming a citation nazi but i think that is a good thing. There is so much in Indonesian articles that is unreferenced, but rather than remove what's there, i try and challenge anything new that comes without references. User:Jakman is another who was doing this, but he is far more cooperative. he is now doing a reasonable job in referencing stuff following my encouragement - in fact, the volume and APPARENT quality are very good and he should be encouraged, but we can't operate on a "trust me, it is correct" policy. I think he realises it is better to put them in as you go. --Merbabu 22:42, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

THanks for your comments, and sorry for not responding - you have now responded twice since. I didn't get back to you immediately, the longer someone's message the longer i take to reply. Need to mull over it. But thanks. I kinda know what you mean, citations are bit of a problem for some. I think I actually could have been stricter, but i got worn down. If i keep removing stuff until refs are provided I might get somewhere. I will suss it out with some admins and make sure I will be backed up first. Thanks for your comments. --Merbabu 13:31, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
See my fellow editor's contribs. Woh! I've picked a hard one. Is there a non-POV non-sensitive article he comments on? But going well so far. It is good to actually see other info in that article --Merbabu 13:37, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the article. Could be most useful. Shows that it wasn't just the USA and only after Oct 2002 if you know what i mean. --Merbabu 13:58, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Flinders[edit]

You're not the first person that this has happened to. I'm not sure if it is a problem with MediaWiki or "the nut behind the wheel", but every now and then a fine, upstanding editor like your good self reverts vandalism and ends up with a page history that shows them inserting it. I have used (abused?) my magic powers to delete your edit, so as to protect your good name. Hesperian 07:14, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hal[edit]

Mt. Tambora[edit]

Thanks. I'm preparing it now for FA. I'll let you know if it is in FAC. Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 03:01, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

user 203....[edit]

I've left a level 3 warning he already has a level 2 today, any subsequent acts today it'll be blocked thats the best that can be done at the moment. :{ Gnangarra 10:23, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've applied a one week block. IPs that do nothing but eternally vandalise make me go all yellow. Hesperian 12:08, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re some articles[edit]

point taken about temper etc. but cld u be more specific about probs w/ articles?
