This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Francois LeBrav (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I was blocked for my previous username, which i had made when I had made when I was new to the site and I then proceeded to change it and still ahve not gotten permission to edit.

I'm new I wasn't knowledgeable on the topic of usernames and have proceeded to change it, I do not understand why I'm still blocked, thanks:)

Accept reason:

User seems aware of the relevant issues re promotionalism. The username aspect has been fixed. Francois has agreed not to edit the problematic draft going forward. Nosebagbear (talk) 22:40, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey User:Cullen328 you blocked me and I have been unable to get help and I don't know what to do, I'm new and everything has been taken away becasue of my username which I changed.... please help

Hi there Francois, I'm happy to review this case. While the formal block was indicated as a pure username issue (now resolved), Cullen328 also noted that he had concerns about representing a business and of making promotional edits.
I'm somewhat less concerned about the business aspect, but I do share some level of concern around the editing. What do you plan to work on if/when unblocked? Nosebagbear (talk) 14:31, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks Nosebagbear for taking the time to look into this. I was planning on updating pages from my area, mainly Weston, Massachusetts and other pages that need updating. For example, Weston High School (Massachusetts) hasn't been updated wince 2011. I plan on working on that as well as doing some research into other topics and overall getting more knowledge on how wikipedia works and develop my skills. Im passionate about history and love to learn and I think wikipedia is a great place to do this.

Would you have any issue with your unblock being conditional on not editing that draft? I agree with the prior reviewers that it's non-notable and as an article you have at least some attachment to it seems a flarepoint it's best to avoid. Nosebagbear (talk) 15:02, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nosebagbear Oh, i'm done editing that draft. I agree that it's not notable and I understand what was brought up. However, that draft has nothing to do with my block. The un block should not be conditional because I have fixed the issues, and agree that I won't submit that article again. Thanks again for looking into this:) I look forward to finally being un blocked :) Francois LeBrav (talk) 15:38, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Winging round to the business aspect - I'm not sure about Cullen, but I find it somewhat strange for lack of a better phrase. Your business, afaict, wasn't promoting itself (or indeed, editing about itself), both of which are good. I guess there is some concern about unblocking you and then you editing in some way related to your company (even if only indirectly). Perhaps the best thing to do is to ask you to expand or provide your side on this Nosebagbear (talk) 15:52, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nosebagbear I'm also pinging @Cullen328: (you forgot to sign your request above, and pinging doesn't happen without a signature) to ask his viewpoint on the discussion thus far Nosebagbear (talk) 15:53, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I didn't really know how that works. As for my side of the story, I'm not really a business in any way. If you look it up there's nothing, I just said so because I didn't want to put my name on wikipedia. Anyways, now taht I've chnaged my username to something more appropriate, what is the procedure to get un-blocked? Do you have the authority or do i need to contact cullen somehow.Francois LeBrav (talk) 18:39, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I need to give a chance for Cullen to weigh in - probably 2 days or so, if he's okay, or doesn't respond, I think I'll go ahead and unblock under the condition above. If he has concerns, the three of us will discuss themm from there. Nosebagbear (talk) 20:32, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OKay sounds good:) I was blocked out of nowhere and can't wait to finally be unblcoked. Thanks so much:)

My remaining concern is that the User page User:Francois LeBrav still identifies this as a business account, which is contrary to policy. After that page is changed to remove that content, I will not oppose unblocking. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:16, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging Nosebagbear. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:18, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Given that the account seems to be editing as an individual, I'm happy to agree with that - Francois, you don't need to do the opposite, if you say you're happy for me to remove that content, then I think we're set. Nosebagbear (talk) 22:27, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cullen328:@Nosebagbear: Thanks, the reason it still says I'm a business is because I have been unable to edit my user page because I have been blocked. I tried and it kept telling me that I'm blocked... Thanks for being understanding.:) Francois LeBrav (talk) 22:34, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nosebagbear, I now support the unblock request. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:38, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

thanks so much!Francois LeBrav (talk) 23:02, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sulfurboy: Hey Sulfurboy, it's francois. You recently declined my article and I was wondering what you suggest doing to get approval. I dont think the article is written very well, but I was wondering (since you added the notability page to the decline) if you checked out the references? The sources, like business insider, the mirro, and many others fufill the reliable sources requirements and also focus only on the subject of my article. Please let me know how I can improve this and make it better. Thanks, Francois LeBrav Francois LeBrav (talk) 15:29, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Francois LeBrav, First there is issues of improper use of sources such as facebook. Secondly, you need to show how this person is notable aside from just one round of news coverage WP:ONEEVENT. Looks like the news cycle just picked up this story about someone that drinks and tests a bunch of coffee. This doesn't make someone notable. That is, what's actually notable here is just the role/job of coffee tester, she is just incidentally the person filling this role, that doesn't make her inherently notable, if that makes sense. Sulfurboy (talk) 15:37, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Sulfurboy: Oh, makes sense. Ill start writing up a draft on coffee tester. Makes sense. Some of the articles also mention the subject as the person who established Dunkin's quality department and therefore in some regards allowed Dunkin' to grow its reach of influence. There are a few sources that I was unable to add in which I will do soon. I understand your comments and will work on making a better article and showing notability. I have a quick question about quotes. Am I allowed to add quotes from references in the article? I don't think so but I just want to check. Thanks for spending the time looking at this.

Much appreciated, Francois LeBrav (talk) 15:48, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
