On behalf of all the co-authors of the Simca Vedette article I would like to thank you for reviewing it and considering it worthy of the GA tag (excuse me for not having marked it accordingly before, btw...) I hope you do believe it fulfills all GA criteria. I would like to thank you for your kind words regarding its FA-readiness too. I do, however, know of quite many flaws (besides the red links) the article has in its current state to even consider such nomination. I was actually concerned whether they would be so evident that they would prevent it from becoming a GA, which is why I decided to conduct this little experiment and nominate it.

Could I ask you a few questions so that I could infer something more about the GA process from this example?

Have you been reviewing GAs before? Do you do this often?
Have you ever promoted/failed an article before? Could you provide some article names so that I could see your rationales?
Why did you choose to review this particular article?
Have you reviewed a similar article before?
Have you compared this article against other GAs while reviewing? If so, what were they?

I am sorry to bother you with all those trivialities, but I am trying to establish a few conclusions regarding the GA process which, I hope, will in the long run help to improve it and boost the profile of the GA status. I would be most obliged if you find some time to reply to those.

So, I understand you have not been exactly checking the article with each of the WP:GA criteria, but rather made your judgement based on your general feeling. That's some important info for me. Eco-cement blanking

Please be more careful about copyvio notices. The Eco-cement article was written by the copyright holder to the web pages in question, and is thus not necessarily copyvio, which is why I didn't include copyvio in the AfD. If the article had been written by someone with a username of EcoGuy or something which didn't match "John Harrison", I'd have hit it with a copyvio tag a week ago. But when AubreyJohnWestonHarrison posts an article which matches content on the web written by "John Harrison B.Sc. B.Ec. FCPA", one should assume some level of good faith. (Only some - the article is clearly vanispamvertisement, which is why I AfD'd it.) Argyriou 16:32, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was so relieved to see your response to my response to...your response. :P RfA is such a difficult, gruelling, and stressful process, but you've still got your sense of humor! I'd like to echo that sentiment. Although you weren't shot down quite as much as I was at my RfA, I still know how it feels to be, not not trusted, but more, well, I don't know how to put it into words :p. However, the important thing is that you learn by the points brought up in your RfA, and help you improve your editing in the future - I know I did. If there is anything you ever need help with, or if you're ever feeling in need of a proverbial pat-on-the-back, just tell me, as I feel I owe you one for when you took the time to help me. voting is or isn't evil

Thanks for your note. This is a very complex issue, and I'm not sure further discussion of it will further your RfA. I'm not sure you can further elaborate your own thoughts without drawing further criticism from someone trying to pick nits.

People will have a wide range of opinions ranging between the two extremes. It might be better to invite others to discuss it on the talk pages of the two essays or on your talk page.

In so far as your RfA is concerned, consider all the comments and take them for what you think they are worth. Apply the ones you think will help you improve your editing. Ok cool no problems! :D I guessed from the start that I would fail but I didnt think this issue would blow up. Ah well. I know it will draw criticism but it wont affect me and if it convinces me to change my opinion it can only be a good thing. As to discussing it on the essay talk pages I feel that is too open for the moment and dont feel ready - maybe one for the future. But it's definitely a role account; they use plurarl first person and have no edits. They could do this entire thing by email or by posting one comment on the Village pump.
