Yo Ho Ho[edit]

Notice

The article Sophia Tolstoy's rebuttal of her husband Leo's accusations has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

content of the page as well as sources have been added to the page of Sophia Tolstaya. This page is now duplicative, the topic does not have sufficient notability in itself and the title of the page is misleading (because the response consists of two separate novellas, which need not be referred to as one item)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Happy Holidays[edit]

Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. ―Buster7

Sher-Gil[edit]

Have you seen this discussion? I don't think you have done too much on her but you might want to leave her for a while and do more in a month or two. You don't need to comment in the discussion unless you want to. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:32, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes... I thought I was doing a good thing, and I did not know what to comment. Will tidy a few things up and leave the subject alone. I am surrounding by a significant amount of literature on the topic and I may be unlikely to go back to it once I put it away. Thank you. Whispyhistory (talk) 04:55, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are doing a good thing. I know exactly the situation. You get very familiar with the material and it is a rich seam and the DYKs come thick and fast. Then someone complains it is too much of the same (often they have done little themselves). The discussion was on your side. You can do as much as you want on her, as quickly as you like, it is only in the DYK context that you might want to space it out a bit. Don't put it all away now you are on a roll. Philafrenzy (talk) 10:38, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks... did a bit more..Whispyhistory (talk) 18:54, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can always do some stubs and DYK them later as five-times expansions. Philafrenzy (talk) 19:14, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I left a positive comment there. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 15:13, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Doing the splits[edit]

Talking of Sher-Gil's split personality, she didn't have it as bad as this woman:

Philafrenzy (talk) 21:17, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks... I haven't seen any official psychiatric assessments of Sher-Gil. Her letters appear (to me) quite normal. I learn and unlearn something new about her every day... it's incredible. Thank you for all your help. Whispyhistory (talk) 06:19, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You may be solely responsible for an increase in the value of her works. I will attempt to buy some before you write any more articles about her. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:00, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I guess others would do a better job. Several paintings are missing and some she didn't sign. Whispyhistory (talk) 08:18, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024[edit]

Hello Whispyhistory,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

PMC(talk) 00:02, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • I just read this article which impresses as a worthy addition to our coverage of medical history – well done! It compares quite well with today's featured article which is less impressive. That article has less prose and seems to have squeaked through the FA process because there's not much to say about the topic. So, TFA seems to be scraping the barrel and so I suggest that you try nominating some of your work to help raise the standard and give your work more prominence.
I looked in at the London WikiMeet yesterday and had a pleasant chat with some of the regulars. But I miss the editathons that we used to have in London and they don't seem to have recovered from the pandemic. I notice that the picture for your article comes from the Wellcome collection and they used to be a good hub for such work. If there's some activity of this sort somewhere please advise.

Thanks... and sorry not been to a meet-up for a while. I don't know of any current projects. Regarding the above article... it's still missing a lot, but very much appreciate your kind words. Whispyhistory (talk) 08:59, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
