Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "WonderFILsmiles", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 08:01, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for changing your username; you will still need to comply with the other policies mentioned above; WP:COI and WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 13:29, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help. I have read the policies. I have not advertised for anything and are not being paid to do this. I have no ulterior motive by adding this information to Wikipedia. You don't have to be "advertising" to have a conflict of interest; "Conflict of interest (COI) editing involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships". Your username was initially that of what I assume is your organization or website, "WonderFILsmiles". If you work for or volunteer for this organization, whether you are paid in cash money or not, you are a paid editor. 331dot (talk) 22:33, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am associated with this group (not a registered organization). I am not benefiting in any way by this addition to Wikipedia. But I do have a reason and I guess that might be my COI? I just wanted the info to be on here so that new parents researching their new born baby’s ultra-rare disease, would find information on a site they trust, like Wikipedia. I am uncertain of who would add this info to this site if they didn’t have some sort of connection to someone with this ultra-rare disorder. I understand if the page has to be removed. My sincere apologies. Alexandrasmiles (talk) 19:30, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't say it has to be removed. But you will need to comply with the conflict of interest policy and formally declare the association you have. Wikipedia usually prefers to have independent editors write about subjects that take note of in independent reliable sources. Wikipedia is not just a medium for distributing information, it summarizes what those independent sources state about a subject. It is okay for you to write about the condition that your group works with since you aren't writing about the group itself in my opinion. 331dot (talk) 19:43, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
