AFD clarification requested

[edit]

I suspect this AFD that was relisted is being ignored because people are unsure whether you really want to delete the article (as I am). Please clarify.--Chaser - T 01:29, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I closed the AFD and tagged the relevant articles.--Chaser - T 03:15, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious - the page used to be in the index I've been working on, but it's now a red link. I thought the essay was worth including; is it permanently gone? -- John Broughton (♫♫) 14:31, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I botched the spelling when I changed the name in my index. Sorry to bother you. (On a side note: If you follow the link in the edit summary for the move, you'll get to a discussion (may have to go into page history?) about userfying essays that (basically) have had only one editor over the life of the page.) -- John Broughton (♫♫) 22:11, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Evy2.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Evy2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Muchness 13:47, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wooyi

[edit]

Dear Wooyi, what's keeping you away for so long? :( You're sorely missed here... I trust everything's ok, and if you need me, you know just where to find me, right? Love, Phaedriel - 23:22, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent news indeed, sweetheart! :) I was truly saddened to see you away from editing; but knowing you're still around, reading and watching events unfold, lead me to hope you'll return to full time editing in due time. Meanwhile, know that I have never forgotten our talks, and all we shared; and that, when the time when you resume your work comes, I'll be here to welcome you in person and help you in any way I can. And remember, my email is always ready to welcome you as well, if you feel like talking outside of Wikipedia, right? Miss you, my friend! :) Love, Phaedriel - 21:54, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Russian literature

[edit]

Hello! Vladimir Nabokov was bilingual writer, so he is well-known in Russian literature with his russian texts. Ayn Rand was russian-born figure of American culture (really Jewish origin), so she couldn't be 'leading figure of Russian literature'. Hope I explain my reasons. And in any case she is more known as philosopher than writer. --Ioakinf 19:16, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa, I just noticed this now :-) Please be more careful when calling one's edits "vandalism". I assure you that is the last act I would commit. That image is a copyvio and will be deleted shortly from the Wikimedia Commons. Again, please be more careful and assume good faith. It is very unpleasant for a user to be called a vandal after just trying to improve the encyclopedia and after having dedicated several months and many, many hours and edits to improving this place. Regards, Agüeybaná 23:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries :-) Just remember to be very, very careful; mistakes like this can bring you a lot of trouble :-) Happy editing! --Agüeybaná 23:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:2-1Mother's-Day-bookcover-(150).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2-1Mother's-Day-bookcover-(150).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:27, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Blagojevich.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Blagojevich.jpg is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Blagojevich.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Replaceable fair use Image:Sphmeyer.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Sphmeyer.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 21:47, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mushrooms not banned in the Netherlands (dried are for some time). Fresh mushrooms are still legal, although there is a lot of commotion most foreign media have misunderstood the fact that the government is (thinking of) making them illegal.
