Always cite reliable sources

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Worldbruce. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ziaur Rahman, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:26, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Ziaur Rahman, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article.
Elements of your addition ("many analysts and historians", "greatest president in the history of Bangladesh") are not supported by the body of the article. As such they do not belong in the lead. They are also exceptional claims, so require exceptionally high quality sources. Other elements are just plain wrong. His funeral wasn't on 30 may 1981, but 2 June 1981. The exact date is excessive detail for the lead, which is a high level summary. The number of attendees at his funeral is disputed. Estimates range from hundreds of thousands (i.e. 200,000 - 900,000; The Washington Post[1] and Reuters[2]) to 2 million (United Press International[3]). No source claims 20 million people attended his funeral (the entire population of Dhaka was only 4 million at the time). --Worldbruce (talk) 14:31, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
