Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Authors
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Authors. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Authors|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Authors. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Help! Can't find any reviews of the Beatles books written by this guy, hence failing WP:NAUTHOR. Clarityfiend (talk) 07:05, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

From reading the cringe-worthy prose of early revisions ("one of the finest sons of the soil, who shines in the civil and political society all by his own radiance ...", etc.), this appears to have been created as a memorial, which is not what the encyclopedia is for.
Searching online and offline in English and Bengali found nothing beyond the short obituary and death anniversary notice, a primary source program listing, and bookseller sites. It doesn't amount to significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources.
After stripping out everything for which no source could be identified, it is clear that he meets none of WP:POLITICIAN, WP:CREATIVE, or WP:GNG. Worldbruce (talk) 18:44, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

Fails WP:BIO, WP:NAUTHOR, WP:NPROF and WP:GNG. I can't find a single reliable secondary source on him, and this version of the article (recreated in May 2024) is sourced only by press releases and the author's own works. I could find no independent reviews of any of his books in a WP:BEFORE search, and nothing remarkable about his academic career. His press releases say he was a visiting/emeritus professor at the now-defunct California International Business University in the US (which appears to have a been a visa mill), South-West State University in Russia, and an online outfit called "SABI University" in France which appears to be a degree mill.
Outcome of the last AFD was to draftify per creator's request in April 2019. The draft was abandoned, and deleted in March 2021. Editors searching for significant coverage, please note that there is an unrelated Singaporean film producer with this name, and an unrelated Malaysian athlete. - Delete. We have the usual problem with articles about journalists, that it is difficult to find sources about her because they are masked by so many other articles that are by her rather than about her. - Delete. My opinion from 7 years ago remains valid today: for someone whose most prominent activity is book editing, we'd need a lot more evidence for notability as a book editor such as heavily reviewed books with reviews discussing her role as editor rather than the scattering of reviews of co-edited volumes that I found ([1] [2] [3]). Nothing else stands out as likely to provide notability. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:51, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

Appears to fail WP:NBIO - while it does have a piece of significant coverage, the InfoWorld article, the others are just announcements and primary source interviews without substantive discussion. It does not pass WP:NARTIST either due to the fact he was just a co-developer or director of most games he made. When the article was first made it also failed NBIO and does not seem to have remedied that situation. There are a lot of minor mentions, but a lack of SIGCOV. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 05:36, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not usually sufficient to establish notability.

- But the Ars article heavily quotes Radoff, so I think WP:ATD would be feasible again. Not going by guidelines briefly, GamerDNA appeared to exist from 2006 to 2011(?), while Radoff had a career from 1992 to now. IgelRM (talk) 00:22, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Keep I have already added more references to this article to show notability. She has been written about in the Australian press with some brief bios in those articles. She advised the Federal Government and argued for innovative labour policies for women long before they were legislated by government such as paid maternity leave, flexible working hours, better access to child care. I will add more to her article later.LPascal (talk) 06:10, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

- Delete. She fails WP:GNG, WP:NBIO with a lack of WP:SIGCOV. Several sources exist but they are WP:TRIVIALMENTIONS (e.g. Sydney Morning Herald), WP:TRADES publications (e.g. Lawyer's Weekly) and WP:PRIMARYSOURCES (e.g. official bios). At first I thought her entry in the Encyclopedia of Australian Science and Innovation might qualify her, but it does not appear to be a "dictionary of national biography" (which would be the Australian Dictionary of Biography, where Krautil does not appear) per WP:ANYBIO criterion 3; not only is it not the national biographical dictionary, it appears to be a bullet-point listing of a few posts and articles by her -- not an encyclopedic entry on her life and significance. (The EASI also appears to accept user-submitted content, potentially making it WP:USERGENERATED). All told, an apparently accomplished individual who does *not* pass notability guidelines.
